Just A little Off topic here. In Febuary 2000's issue of PcPowerplay (some people may or may not have heard of it) therein lies the review of Freespace 2. It copped a whopping 95% and the platinum award for the game heres what they pretty much said about it:

FOR: Gorgeous Visuals, immersive storyline, fantastic effects and a situational soundtrack. Definitely the most atmospheric title in the genre.

AGAINST: Cooking, Cleaning, eating, sleeping... lots of perfect Freespace 2 time Wasted!

This is from thier november 2000 issue,
freespace 2 landed at 24th in the top 100 games of all time and this is what they said about it :
"The space sim reborn in all its mind-blowing, atmospheric glory. Add to this a cracker of a storyline and unbelievable visuals and you have a damn good reason to own a PC."

Cool Huh?

Ok what about a dual widespread beam blaster
no no no silly goatmonkeyboy not like CAP ship beams...

it would have
level 7 against shields
level 2 against hull
it would drain aprox 1/3 2/4 of your wep energy

it would fire a beam thats wide enough to hit multiple shields on whatever your attacking like an mara for example it could hit 3 of its shields at once

color would be blue or PURPLE... hint hint "purple"

you wont be smiling when my refitted missile frigate targets your scrumpy fighter

Yeah, that could have some very interesting applications, although I don't know what applications they would have for BWO since we've designed things to fit the current game engine state.

I suspect that the source release will be most handy to B5 MOD but who knows

I really want vectored thrust pods (like in WCP) and non subspace ending missions.

No prob. I live for crushing the dre.....erm, never mind.

I have a few ideas that would be cool and hopefully easy to implement if the FS source code was released. Most importantly......pulse firing turrets, dammit!

End mission SEXP? I dunno, just a thought. Never actually used it.

Pulls up his Grendel Missile Frigate up behind IceFire's scrumpy fighter and fires all 8 missile banks....

anyony wanna BBQ fighter

Dodge that scrumpy...

OK IceFire you ask people what guns they wanna see in BWO... then whne we answer you say that it wouldnt be feasible (probably typos along the way)
since you dont whant to remain it all FS style whats the point of suggesting new weapns?

I know this is a little off the subject, but what if you put an anti-fighter beam on the rear instead of a turret, on bombers?

A missile that could pierce shields like a Trebuchet, but instead of damaging the hull it did really, really, really heavy subsystem damage. And also had the range too.

*Grumbles* Wish I had one of those missiles before, I could have saved the GTSC Plato! *Grumbles Again*

What? I'm not crazy! But the rest of you are!

Perhaps some more advansed Disabling weapons for subsystems.Their is a lack of weapons in that respect but really what can one do without sourcecode other than refine existing weapons?

How about a Scatter Gun? It sorta spreads the fire out a bit, yeah kinda like the Maxim but doesn't shake your ship so damn much. Would it be possible to put an AAA beam on a bomber turret? What about a Flak gun on a bomber turret?

How about an advanced bomber (in the Boanerges and Artemis generation) but one that has turret(s)?

Well, All I agree with is that there should be newer bombers with turrets

And if the source comes out, maybe turrets on fighters >8D .... <--Stolen from Mad Bomber

I don't think im whining, what I am being is realistic. I want people to be happy and feel that they have had some sort of input into this campaign. People telling me to make a gun that does this and that, and it can't be done in the engine means that its not helping us very much at all.

A scatter gun doesn't work because primaries have to fire straight out from the ship. But...a bomb like the Infyrno can work with primary weapons. Its something to try anyways

It'd be like a coneburst missile from WC4 :P

Oh....how about a tactical nuke?

Mines could be easily done, no velocity, and remote detonation.

Also a scatter pack cannon could be done if someone was willing to make a custom shockwave .ani for the weapon. (i.e. cannon fires a pulse, and upon impact the shockwave appears as multiple projectiles shooting out and exploding)

what about a homing torpedo - would need to have long reload time to balance it out but i know i found nothing more annoying than braking off from an attack run before i got a missle lock because some fighter was fireing on me
