Just be careful not to get to carried away with "cool" names. In the Star Trek book "Imzadi" by Peter David he was appearently lacking inspiration big-time for some alien names, so he took the transliterations from hebrew of the Passover meal items (Baytzah (egg), Zroah (arm, shankbone), Charoset (a sweet traditional passower dish), Chazeret (traditionally lettuce), Karpas (parsley or celery) and Maror (Horse-radish; literally "bitter") - page 182-3, FYI). Needless to say, for me (I speak hebrew) it was just a bit ridiculous to read those names and to think of them as sinister aliens and not various foodstuff eaten once a year...
