Whee! Brilliant!

Guys,

What can I say? I expected something good but, damn, not this good! It's all I can do to pull myself away after saving the Lewis' Gamble and Brightstar and get into work very very late! Just bloody amazing!

Black Sheep was right. Just about all of the voice acting is terrific! I was especially pleased to hear a woman as Beta-1. It just made it all feel a little more real to have a female pilot in the mix.

The UI art, the models, the sound fx, the visual fx (especially the lighting!!!!) just fantastic!

Few things which could use a minor touch-up perhaps. Don't shoot me for suggesting; I know how sensitive modders can be about improvements as I am one in a limited capacity elsewhere.

1. Command briefings don't have voice recordings. I wouldn't have noticed except that the mission briefings are voiced (I should know, I voiced them -- which is a minor point: you guys credited me for Alpha-2 and EAS Washington but not for my hardest task: the briefings. No hard feelings. Just pointing it out).
2. After saving the Yorktown, it didn't seem entirely clear that I needed to get to the jump gate before engaging my jump engines. Maybe someone mentioned it in mission. However, it should be an explicit mission objective to get to the jump gate -- just to be clear.

But that's IT! Nothing more! It's BEAUTIFUL! I fully intend to buy FS2 for a few friends of mine to show off your work (well, that and a lil bit of bragging rights for me too! ;-) ).

Now, finally, I need to go to work! Good thing that I'm quitting this job at the end of the month!

i agree dam what a job and it was worth the wait i have played the first couple of mission and i have to say i am very impressed.

cannot wait for the rest of your mod the only thing that has disappointed me about it is that every mod seems to want to concentrate on the minbari war. i like the shadow war more as more cooler ships

The Command Briefs were done....but they aren't quite ready yet...so we shipped without them.

We'll release them as part of a patch.

Oh man... after playing the "demo", I'm in desperate need of more!!!

But unfortunatrly, I have to report a tiny bug: When clicking weapons in the tech room, I get kicked back to desktop...

Looking forward to new missions, ships and whatever those geniuses at work have in mind...

Anyone already playing multiplayer? I hope so... Wanna join!

Every MOD since the beginning of FreeSpace history has had this problem. We're no different here

Ok... then I can live with it.

Anyone to make a page/document about the weapons then?

The interesting thing that I saw was that when I clicked on Weapons in the tech room, IT WORKED! WTF is going on? White-SF already proved that it isn't even supposed to happen here, so why can I see it?

Posted by hezie99 on 10-12-2001 09:41 PM:

yeah the weapons in the tech screen worked for me to

Posted by White-SF on 10-12-2001 09:45 PM:

Well... perhaps a foreign language conflict.

I have the german version. Could this be the reason? Perhaps someone comes up with an idea to patch the german version... Wasn't there someone in the developers team using the german version?

Thumbs up

You and me both. Actually, I fixed several grammatical errors in the script before recording my lines -- I just missed a few. Remember, a lot of the TBP modders are German nationals. All in all, their English is pretty damn good really (especially when compared to my German!). In some cases, in my parts of the script, I ended up improvising slightly on my own changes as well. Even so, I caught one place where "fleet", singular, is referenced with a pluralized verb.
I just need to keep finding myself voice acting work. Really, it's too much damn fun. I'm doing some for Black Sheep's "Descent of Evil" FS2 mod but if any of you all out there need a voice actor, hit me up. I'm cheap (read: free).
