a render

Okay, another way of saying that Max isn't so bad at space scenes is:

If you like it, don't praise me too much - shadow model by Thomas Banner:

One thing that people might like to know is that this pic took only a couple of minutes to render.

Oh yes...Messiah's system was very intriguing and very well working compared to other attempts of similar. The word is that Doom 3 is going to top it though.

What, as in the 9 LODs or so? I know that, but there are frequently a lot of close enemies, blah, blah, blah.

I agree with you about the first point, but I've never had a problem with tiled maps in MAX, and I've had no end of problems with Truespace. I guess it's just my anti-truespace feelings.

I started with Ts before I had max.... I'll probably get used to it given a bit of time - i'm still learning a lot of stuff with Max.

well SSam did have a fairly good engine geared towards having lots of enemies rushing at you at once.. not my kind of game, but very cool nevertheless..
..But that has nothing to do with what software was used to make the models in the first place.

Max

max has one of the most friendly modeling interfaces ive ever toyed with.. thats probably because ive been toying with max2 all the way to r4..

However I find the Lightwave give alot in the way of rendoring.. and therefore if.. especcially doing animation and full motion movies... Id go with lightwave even thought shes abit of a trick..

Then again a nice middle ground is Cinima4d .. heh..

Heres a good suggestion, just model it in max, and convert the files to lightwave for rendering.

A good, if not so cost effective suggestion.

well

...Cost effective.. LOL..

Being cross platform compatable is a good thing but uh.. odds are whoever your woking with can afford only one..

Then again.. the poor graphic artists motto is borrow and or never have a legitimate copy of anything..

Oops did i say that?

cant let the Lightwave side down - - this model isn't finished yet and i only jsut begun to texture it too so its abit rough and not fully kitted out with bump maps either but its complete enough to do a sample render and show off lightwave spacey scene talent

would like to point out to that this only took 5 mins to render
however i do have kinda powerful puter but hey =)
