All these sizes are unzipped but the files are already pretty compressed so zipping won't help much. Codec is Indeo 4. We chose it because almost everyone has it, though we like divx better.

What about using a RAR-archiving. I've found that their compression quality is a lot better than utilising WinZIP.
I recently backed up a large group of files into a WinZIP archive and also a WinRAR archive respectively, to determine which of the two were better at compression. Here are the results:
Total original directory size: - 348MB
After using maximum WinZIP compression: - 140MB
After using maximum WinRAR compression: - 82MB!

If he doesn't want to compress the audio, he doesn't have to. It's not like you're required to download it.
My advice, btw, when putting this thing up for download is to RAR and split (e.g. rar, r00, r01, r02) so people can grab it segment by segment and put it up on P2P apps (e.g. get people on Direct Connect, winMX, Kazaa, etc and share it) as well as the ever popular newsgroup option. Because otherwise it's gonna be *hard* to grab a +1 gig file.

I hate Lightwave.
alot.
I think we've covered compression options. If you don't want to download it DONT. I'm an a 33.6 connection that's buggy as hell, I understand.
What I really need is feedback on the character work. We are considering redoing all of it, and as this would be a phenominally huge undertaking I need to know if it would be worth it.

Well, they're obviously CG characters. But I figure a few more details on the faces (e.g. insanely good texturing, I guess) and make an effort to have 'fluid' character animation and I won't care. Nobody should be expecting Final Fantasy: TSW-quality character animation out of this. Although it would be nice

I just seen the Video, Impressive work indeed. But I want to make a few suggestions.
-To make different music, chorus singing of young people gave a strange feeling to the story. I was thinking in something more conventional to Sci-fi themes.
-Battle sequences were made of ships flying strait lines against each other in frontal attacks. Need to add rolls and feeling of small imprecisions such as overcompensation of moment of inertia.
We should see the fighters make small adjustments as they manuever. There was one time that one of those weirdness fighters made a turn in front of the ship being the base of the camera, it felt as the enemy ship wanted to become an easy target.
-Capital ships should fire at longer distances, I had to run the trailer several times untill I understand that when that Fs2 beam sound was on indeed there was a beam being fired from that big boat-like capital ship, it was camouflaged by the background (highly coloured ships)
I was very impressed by the quality of the ships models and people and the bridge animated sequences.

At last someone else who uses Rhino, I always thought I am the only one.
Well lets come to the movie.
Good:
Ships, original and good ideas. I like these "Ships" in space idea. Bridge, also tryed something like that, never get something to work. Best thing is the "Star Map" I liked the effect a lot. Sound, a little bit unsusal, but that is what it makes intressting.
Bad:
Voice, it is sometimes hard to understand, but you can if you try. Only one thing is there left that I can't understand... how long is that ship? Sometimes I understand something between Alien and 18 miles.
Overall: A good movie with some nice effects, realy like it and want to see more.
BTW Which band and titel is it in the trailer? I have searched for it, but never found it.
