a few questions if i may
Hello all! I was hoping I could ask a few questions (and get a few answers!
) here about Freespace.
), is that really going to happen?
) and just have no news or even rumours (except in the game forum) in a few years... is there any hope?

I'm still stuck with just Fs1, I'm one of those unlucky persons without Fs2 (but I think I know where I can get a copy, tho not cheap!
), I've been following a couple of these mods for some time, and they look great. If those graphics and gameplay improvements are able to be made then I'm set for life, tho I have 1 question/comment; How would that geomodding ships be affected by beam weapons?
It always bugged me that the beams would cut straight through a ship (from what I've seen) yet the ship would be unscathed, with something like geomodding would it either dent the ship, or cut a hole(now that'd be cool!)? Either that or I'd be happy just to have the beams hit a ship and not go through, that'd still look good!
(PS. plz don't laugh at me
)

There are a variety of nodemaps around here. Icefire has released many, but each is based on different campaigns. There's a map called the "extended nodemap" out there somewhere for one of the VW-sponsered campaigns. All you really need are the base systems, ending at Polaris, Gamma D., Capella, Delphi, and the Wolf 359 area.
Its hard to say about "rumors" of FS3... we dont KNOW that there WONT be an FS3, but we also dont KNOW that there WILL be one (more likely there wont). Just keep FS3 thoughts locked in a safe deep deep in the mind.

Horsemen. It's two words if you look at it closely. Oh, wait, NO, DON'T!
Yeah, better locked in your mind than on the forums.
Welcome to the VWBB, Icer.

Thanks, it's kinda sad that I've really been signed up since... March 2001...
So the Nodemaps that IceFire made, none of the nodes there are made up are they? I mean, there's the one that volition had, I take it when you say he made them for the campaigns that only means that maybe the ones that led off to nowhere were given a destination and name? I noticed that between 2 of his maps that 1 had a node from Ribos to Ghenna which is also connected to Gamma Draconis, yet in his 2001 nodemap that Ghenna isn't there along with a few other connections...
As well, what about the geomod-ship thing that I read about, how's that looking at the moment?

Icefire's map with Ghenna etc is not an 'offical' nodemap that is it's not cannon. Only the V nodemap is proper. Basically this means you can add whatever systems you like onto the edges and it'll be just as offical.

Makes sense, just one more question, the V (for 'volition' right?) nodemap, did they make an 'official' one with the nodes introduced in Fs2 in it?

no Gamma Draconis!
And I guess my question on the geomod thing is being discussed in another thread

Okay yeah I meant that it isn't named, and since the Shivans came through Gamma Draconis that would mean there should be a jump node leading out of there too! And to be technical, Vega is the only node attached to Capella named, the one 'above' it isn't named on that map!
(according to IceFire's it's Epsilon Pegasi, is that 'official?)
So I take it then that there wasn't an 'official' updated nodemap then?

Here is the extended nodemap for Behind Enemy Lines
The nodemap for Warzone and BWO is here.
The second one, again, works for almost all campaigns out there. You might want to note however that a few systems ARE missing. Talnia, Ghenna, Epsilon Eridani, are missing. "New" systems are Naos and Phi Eridani. Theres an unnamed system outside Gamma D., but for any purposes, any system outside Gamma D. is probably fictional and not "standardized."
