Questions about your mod
Hi, I've been following your MOD for some time on and off but have never gor round to registering on this forum
Anyway I was doing the rounds and noticed the long awaited demo is coming out in a few days
Well since I haven't been following your MOD continuously I wondered if you could clear up a few points for me:-
Even when I should be reading for exams.... but what the heck, I'll answer anyway.
Ships:
EA Aurora StarFury
Belt Alliance Zephyr light fighter
EA Crew shuttle
EA Atmospheric shuttle
EA freighter (class unknown)
EA Olympus corvette
EA Hyperion heavy cruiser
EA Nova dreadnought
EA Orion ringstation
Minbari Nial fighter
Minbari Lintira transport
Minbari Tinashi frigate
Minbari Sharlin warcruiser
JumpGate and Earth
Next version will include longer Earth - Minbari campaign and few ships more, later versions will include Narn and Centauri ships and a campaign. And so on.
Jump-point is working and looking good.
Except there is only one jump animation available and it's blue.
You can play whatever race is included, except for ships that are unpilotable by default such as Drakh Raider.
You can also play in multiplayer with others who have this mod, better be sure that you're using the same version though.
And as for a dedicated server... we shall see,

Q: Could you give me a list of all the ships which are in the demo please...
A: Aurora StarFury, Zephyr (Raider Fighter), Nial, Lintira, Atmospheric Shuttle, Crew Shuttle, Orion Station, Hyperion, Olympus, Nova, Tinashi, and Sharlin. Also the jumpgate model and a few other little things.
Q: What will be the differences between this and the final version?
A: I can't predict all that we'll be doing after the demo, but the focus is obviously on getting more ships into the game, releasing more missions, and boosting the feel as often as possible.
Q:Will there be a working jumpoint in this demo?
A: In looks yes, in operation no. We can't reprogram FS2. IF the source is ever released, thats a possibility.
Q:Can I play with both races?
A: We didn't make Minbari missions, but yes you can fly a Nial in your own or other peoples missions.
Q:What about the Multiplayer situation?
A: It works apparently. We'll release some multiplayer missions at somepoint soon afterwards.

oh no here we go again... overrating EA tech like it is anyway as good as minbari of first ones fighters. I dont mean Youll never get a kill at those ships, but I do say those ships should give an unfair advantage to the pilot in it over any EA piloted ship. With equaly squiled pilots the EA fighters would loose most of the times and any starfury pilot will scream of frustration when his adversary can do manuevers impossible to him, and blast him away with fewer hits.
The T-bolt is a significant improvment but isnt 'gifted' enough when compared to the minbari or any of the first ones ships.
dont tell me that we sudenly made a roket boosted fighter that is superior to gravitic driven fighters.
DONT BE TOO PATRIOTIC. ITS BLINDING YOU!!
ahhhhh but you forget - that starfurys are considered extremely manuervarable and only out preferomed by the minbari fighters - except for perhaps speed - the thunderbolt is faster adn even more manuerverable and can dish out plasma at an astonishing rate - i'd say the only fighter better than the thunderbolt in the game is the nial - and the first one fighters - but i rmember seeing in the show a thunderbolt blow away a vorlon fighter with no to much effort

bah! Its common knoeledge that a small numberof Nials and the firstones fighters can take on Ea cruisers , the Vorlon fighters and shadow fighters have comparable fire power to a Much larger EA ships. We never seen such coments for the T-bolt.
yes the T-bolt can blast a Vorlon fighter, but thats possible because you can sneak close behind him while he's occupied. In the Mod if we could reproduce the beam on the vorlon fighter any EA fighter would be blown to bits before it could get a shot off. This in a head to head scenario. With a EA fighter you would have less range and would have to lead the aim to shoot, while the vorlon fighter could simply aim at you directly and press the trigger.Booom end of the story. The EA pilot would have to be better skiled to compensate for his disavantages and have a chance of kill.
We shouldn't forget how importand balancing is.
This mod is supposed to be fun, not just exactly how it was in the series.

Well , the player may be able to take out a vorlon fighter and a shadow fighter , but the player won't survive it to attack anything bigger. The fighter classes the player will be able to steer don't have enough firepower to punch through vorlon or shadow armor.
So , If a battlecrab arrives , then get the hell out of there.

Oh ****! Those idiots did it.
I agree with prophet and haderak
and yeah, as much fun as it would be to have the nial much better than the EA fighters, balancing is important... besides have you seen the nial;s weapons? they alrdy have a big advantage

About the Nials beams, will they be long(40-50 meters) pulses or real fast flying shots with beam-like trails. I've made a "beam" that uses trails but it behaves strangely and sometimes the trail doesn't show at all. And of course, it's a bit too powerful also.

You seem fairly keen on piloting the best Had - however, giving us an unbalanced multiplayer would be less than entertaining, no matter what calls you make to the nature of the inferiority of the EA tech...
... not that you've seen much of the T-Bolt in direct combat - possibly the best in Crusade, against Drakh Raiders.
Actually, can someone tell me if the EA fighters now carry missiles?
All fighters can carry missiles but they are not a standard loadout for every mission. And the amount of missiles that a fighter can carry is quite a bit smaller than normal FS2 amount, so learn to use your primaries rather than secondaries.
Edit: For earlier question the answer is that Nial beam does have a trail. It's very good looking, it's not exactly same as in the show but at least it is practical and well balanced.

I disagree about a T-Bolt being less manouverable than a standard Starfury, there isn't any resistance in space to reduce it's manouverability because of it's atmospheric wings, the only thing that might effect it is it's additional mass, but they incorporated better thrusters to make up for that (evidenced by it's greater speed)
