Don't tell me the OEM FS2 doesn't work...
Went to compusa tonight. No FS2 for sale. They did have Logitech joysticks with FS2 bundled however :-)
Aw hell I needed a new stick anyway... installed FS2, installs into an 'OEM' directory... hmmmmm ok. Removed the FS2 mission stuff and installed TBP core.... starts up with all the TBP screens woo hoo! No 'error parsing weapons.tbl'... great! Uh oh now we get:
Error: Invalid weapon name. In sexpression: ( when
( true )
( good-secondary-time
"Friendly"
100
"Cyclops"
"Belisarius"
OK no problem that's in the FAQ, go to campaign screen... eeeeek there's nothing to choose! All it has is:
+ Freespace 2
and in the text window below, 'the start of the main campaign'.
Where's TBP???? What have I screwed-up now? Please don't tell me the FS2 that came with the joystick is no good (it calls itself 'Colossus'.....
TIA again (starting to feel quite lame about this... sorry... confused)
Mike

Probably means that the OEM version won't accept FS2 campaigns. Or your missions are in the wrong spot.
Check to see where the missions are located:
*.fs2
*.fc2

Sorry but there was long time ago similar question, it worked only partially but there are rumours that you can get mods working on OEM Colossus version. Sadly, I don't know how or if it is even possible, I think Admiral LSD or Kazan may know about this.

Probably like getting other HL mods to work with CS retail.
I also remember reading about this...

FYI for you all.. I am a newbie with Freespace 2.. heck.. i even bought the the bungle just a few days ago.. like this pal..
I have to say.. the DEMO Rocks.. the team has done a superb job..
From one modder to another.. great work.. and i hope to see more to come.

You have to right click on it and select "Save Target As..." Then you can download it as normal.
Maybe you knew this, I don't know. But this is what I have to do to get it to download.

First apologies for being drunk whilst in charge of a keyboard!
Still can't get to it; RoadRunner seems to be having routing issues - dominion.campaigncreations.com pings time out. tracert times out after a couple of hops. I can however get to it via samspade safe browser, and samspade agrees with roadrunner that dominion.campaigncreations.com is at 168.143.176.19 - so it's not just a DNS issue. Sigh. Guess I just have to wait for routers to catch up...

Well I downloaded the .vp from work today - no routing problems from there! And when I got home... yep routing problems fixed. Now we are playing the game :-)
Sheesh this is hard!
Thanks J_C well played!

Yeah, the OEM version worked, but it was an interesting hack to get it working and probably only works with TBP because TBP is so thorough, I think some of the less encompasing mods - like UA, Derelict, Warzone, etc don't function, but i don't know it's been quite a while since i played ever with the main game engine, until i can get it functioning under wine i'm of no use
