SCP tribute (image heavy)
Inspired by Omniscapers threads over at HLP with huge Star Trek battles I wanted to test how much B5 my machine could take with the new HTL improvements.
So I made a little mission with two huge fleets battling it out.
EA fleet:
4 Omegas
6 Midwinters
2 Novas
6 Olympus'
Minbari Fleet:
3 Sharlins
4 Tinashis
My Specs: AMD 1.6 GHz, GF Ti4200, 512 MB DDR
I used the 12_05_2003 exe, which is pretty stable and handled all those polys really well.
The game was running at 1280x1024 (also thanks to SCP code monkeys), and all detail settings at max.
Lowest fps was about 13 with LOTS of stuff exploding at the same time.
If you want to test it yourself, here is the mission. SCP exe with HTL is HIGHLY recommended.
Now for some piccies, click link below pic, to see full resolution image.
So, THANK YOU SCP guys !

Pretty nice. Hopefully TBP ships will utilize SCP features some day.
My fav is tbp_htl07.jpg. Omegas always goes down with style!

would that allow this smooth shading stuff ? i hope so, since the Sharlin looks realy edgy now.
EDIT: So, any volounteers to recompile the models ?

I would agree with that. It makes for a big improvement. Unfortunately I haven't got a clue which cobs on the FTP were used for what.
Does anyone out there fancy putting together some shine/glowmaps for TBP? That would be really exceptional in it's sweetness.

I have a complete set of glowmaps consisting of some maps from the TBP_open zip and many made from scratch by me. I also have fine tuned the ones from the TBP_open, because some of them had some ugly derelicts from converting.
I've also started doing some shinemaps, the Aurora and Badger are complete, the Omega is half done. At the moment I haven't got any time to work on them, since I have to learn for exams.
But I could put up a zip with all the glow-/shine maps I have, if none of the original creators of the TBP_open maps objects to that ?

Those shots are pretty sweet. I just wish I knew how to get the scp to work to begin with. I followed the directions as best as I could and I see absolutely no changes in my game.

if anyone does recompile, be sure to use auto-facet smoothing type (and the build I made and posted to take advantage of this), for EA ships (especaly the omega) give it a low shadeing value, for smooth shipd (like the Sharlin) give it a very very high one

That definately doesn't sound right. Are you actually running the launcher & a new exe? It is possible to point the launcher at the original FS2.exe in which case you'll see absolutely no difference.
Look at the bottom of the main hall. Which version of FS2 does it say you're running?

I'll have to give it another try some time. Gonna format soon and I'll try it when I reinstall. I am pretty sure it just said v1.1 in the corner.

Hi,
just tried it out. Looks great for me.
I am quiete new to this mod and actually i am trieng to figure out what is possible and how it works.
Unfortunately i have problem with this mission you made. The minbari are quiete to peacefull for my taste. I mean, they dont fire!!! :-(
As i see on the posted screenshots they should do and my first experiments with fred worked as well.
How could this be?
I supose it could be because i have installed "in the beginning" from den and applied the hotfix for R2. Maybe i have done something that should be done (,what else?!). But to solve i need to know what.
Maybe somebody had the same problem an solved it without removing the whole freespace2-folder and reinstall it again.
thanks in advance
and...
i experienced a massive performance-boost after disabling an antivirus active scanner when playing FS2, could help a lot
