B5 DVD talk
Anyone know how to get the bonus or extra material of the Season2 DVD set? Like the shortened blooper reel?
Season3 comes out in 6 days (12th Augest). Hoo-Rahhh.
Will give me motivation to play the mod still.
Anyone know a date for Season4? Or the MOVIES?

At least In the Beginning is available as DVD and if I remember correctly, so is The Gathering.
I have ItB and S1 DVD's, for some reason I haven't even bothered to order S2 or S3.

The Pilotmovie "The Gathering" and "In the Beginning" And for the real Fan on VHS is available "A Call to Arms", "River of Souls" and "Thirdspace". Hope i could help you.

But we did get 13 episodes...some of which were VERY good. Others which was just average (and War Zone was bad).
SPACE channel I heard may be picking up Crusade again anyways...it'd be nice to see it. They REALLY did do a good job starting the show...too bad it didn't get really underway.

Oh yes...SPACE the Canadian sci-fi channel that I watch so much of. Apparently they have StarGate SG-1 coming to their line of programming soon too.

Everyone says how good SG-1 is, and the acting seems actually good, but the episodes are stand alone, are they not? I don't like that really.
Enterprise too. But it may pick up with season3.
DS9 and Babylon5 were my fav's.
I may buy Farscape DVDs since I missed it on TV and everyone raves about it.

Actually after B5, Stargate is probably the series with the most amount of comeback from previous episodes.
The most powerful System Lord changes depending on the actions of the SGC. If they cripple one Lord in later episodes they mention that due to his weakened state another one has taken his place or taken advantages of their actions.
Races that are met by the team are often mentioned in later episodes and they often explain why they simply don't go to the Asgard or Tok'ra whenever they have a problem.
What SG-1 lacks is a long story arc covering the whole of the show like B5 had. Each season does have a story arc running through it but it's more like Buffy where each season builds up to a climactic final battle rather than B5 where all the seasons have an ongoing plotline.

Episodes are somewhat stand alone but essentially they found a very good balance between mentioning stuff they have done before, meeting the same people as they have before, going to the same places as they have before than pretty much most StarTrek's and other TV series where after the end of an episode the reset button is hit and everything is back to normal.
SG-1 is a very good series...doesn't take itself too seriously, Richard Dean Anderson adds some real comic relief as do the other characters in many circumstances...things are just slightly off the wall enough to be entertaining and I have alot of fun watching the episodes.
No its not B5's big gigantic arc which was absolutely fantastic...but its the next best thing I think.

Agree 100% At least the plot arcs over the season. Not as good as an all-encompassing plot but they do a very good job.
The bit I mentioned earlier about the System Lords is VERY good in my opinion. The bad guys don't stand in a line waiting to have a pop at Stargate command. They spend just as much time fighting amongst each other and doing nasty things that don't have anything to do with Earth.
Although destroying/capturing Earth is important to them it's just one thing on a long list of evil things to do today.
It gives the impression of a realistic universe rather than one where writers just come up with the problem of the day.

Buffy and Angel are great in my opinion, and Im not a 16 year old girl. (20 male....)
But they are consistant usually, and enjoyable. Season bad guys then a battle, and good character development.
Farscape anyone? Tell me about it? Seemed out of this world, and I never found the time to see it.
Babylon5 season3 tomorrow. Im gonna watch hours of it before I hit Cali for a week.
Stargate.........what happened when Daniel died? I seen the show, and know he died after 6 seasons or so?
DS9 had a good story arc reminiscent of B5. Then it too ended.
Too bad movies cant play for 5-7 years, instead of 2 hours.......
(that is one thing movies will never have; the impact of a great story that has such a big arc.)
