Hi all. Yes, newbie here. *Takes bow*
Wonder ing if a little help was possible from all you Freespace guys? I'm looking for wallpaper. I've down my best, scoured google, [V]'s site, not much there. Looekd at threads here... again, not finding much... So... what I'm really after is in game shots of big battles between capital ships firing beam lasers. However (and here's the tough part) NO HUD. Or at least so little that I can paint over it. Any help is mucho appreciated.
EDIT: Oh... and can anyone tell me why my banner hasn't popped up in my sig? I think the tag is right... [*img=...] yeah???

img tags are not allowed in sigs, and please, please get a normal font, or better, a standard font

Lutz most easiest way to make own wallpaper with capship fighting is to stop in wanted place and face some black spot. Then pressing Numpad 0 and keep it down, there appears a red ball and with numpad you can move your view arc, then just take screenie and open in some picture software (PSP, PS, etc.) and replace that red spot with black.
Then save as .jpg and then you have nice wallpaper.

I think he's after rendered images rather than screengrabs Rose.
I'd suggest the Hard Light Array but I'm not certain how many of those images are wallpaper sized.
You could have a good poke around on the HLP art forum.

If you are looking for renders go here: http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/art/
If you are after actual screen grabs then what you can do is turn off the majority of the HUD and take the picture that way. Use the HUD config panel in-game.

If you like, Lutz, you can download FS2_Open from the [url=http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/fsscp/index.php]FreeSpace2 Source Code Project[/url]. It has new features that have been added to the original FS2 engine, including one to allow you to turn on and off the HUD in the middle of a mission with only the press of a button.

That shouldn't really matter as every version of Windows since the first version of 98 at least (I think the 95 Plus Pack had the feature which was where 98 inherited it from but I'm not sure) has the ability to scale images up and down. As long as they have a 4:3 aspect ratio they should scale cleanly to the vast majority of screen resolutions.

I know that. But most of them are quite small so if you have a high screen res things are gonna look quite jaggy.
