nebula

I was going through the threads yesterday when someone posted about naming the nebula...I think he wanted to call it the Styx Nebula. I like the name, but what does the rest of the FSWatch community think?

what should the nebula be called?

I like the name "The nebula beyond Gamma Draconis" myself . Why 'name' it? It'll never be universally accepted anyway, and, without some very good storywriting skills, we'll never (believably) be going back there.

Thumbs up

Yeah, gotta agree with Black Wolf. Unless we've got a mission designer who really wants us back in that place, there really is no use in naming it. Besides, leaving the nebula unnamed adds more mystery in what lies inside...

But I think if a name is to be given, Styx probably would be the first choice (a FICTIONAL choice).

The river Styx is the river that the dead have to cross in to enter the underworld. Charon the boatman, ferries the souls across the Styx. Each soul needs a penny to cross the river; when buried, someone must leave them a penny for the afterlife.

I thought Charon wanted a Drachma. Anyway, Styx would suit the nebula, especially in regard to admiral Bosch's journey.

Styx (stks)
n. Greek Mythology
The river across which the souls of the dead are ferried, one of the five rivers in Hades.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Latin, from Greek Stux.]

styg·i·an also Styg·i·an (stj-n)
adj.
Gloomy and dark.
Infernal; hellish.
Of or relating to the river Styx.

How appropriate is that?!
