I don't think theres ever been a "stable" version of ICQ...
At least its always been in Alpha or Beta the entire time I've used it (since 2000a).

Because I have no idea what you mean, then I suppose: "No".

I can't say that for you, ppl have different opinions.
Try it and make your decision.
Personally I have never liked Trillian. mIRC and ICQ have always been enough for me.
Edit: For those who are lazy enough not to click the link I posted: ICQ Lite is not web based ICQ. It is lighter version of "normal" ICQ.

I put the word stable in quotes for a reason. I never said that it was crash happy, what I meant was that it's always been in alpha or beta. "Stable" is a term that can describe a build of a product thats ready for general release. You see it all the time with open source projects.

Bleh. Any version after ICQ 98 sucked, badly. Thankfully I still have a copy of it... somewhere. I guess it really doesn't matter because I use Trillian now.

Trillians OK... When they fix their ICQ module so that it allows you to synchronise your contact list with the online version ICQ keep on their servers (like just about EVERY OTHER IM PROGRAM OUT THERE including the other 3 which Trillian supports) then it'll own.

Agreed, since I just lost my ICQ database
AIM recovered it from the web no problem, plus it makes synching buddy changes from home->school a snap.
Oh, and I wish their IRC client supported highlighting. If it did, I'd use it. As it stands, I got so used to it that I run mIRC instead...

no, see, I want Trillian IRC to support highlighting. I know mIRC does, I use mIRC now because of highlighting

In my humble opinion, anything is better then Trillian.
I have AIM (prefered, cept the new version ****s), ICQ, MSN, and mIRC (almost never use).
I have Trillian and could use it, but I dun like it.
