Just saw Thirdspace and LotR 1st run

Wow....I've seen the entire series 5 times through, and loved it. I saw A Call To Arms and it was good. Crap music though....Chris Franke do it?

So I was at my cabin which suprisingly has a satellite dish, and I saw all the B5 movies available. I asked my grandma how to get it to work, then set it up and order Thirdspace.

DAMN man it rocked! The crew was back....brought a tear to my eye (show changed my outlook on life and my life goals....but havent seen it in a while so I've forgotten much). Anyhow, the story, characters, models, space battles, everything rocked in it!! I am SO PLEASED!!

However.....the music stunk too. I didnt see Chris's name in the credits. WTF?

OH, and I had to PAY to see it haha.

Then......then I saw LotR for the first time......

I HATED IT. I almost turned it off when Sarah was screaming and shooting the weapons. The Kung-Fu weapons system sucked big time.....and it wasn't even Kung-Fu or any type of known martial art but flimsing around like a pansy. I TAKE Shaolin Kung-Fu, and that wasn't it, or anything I've seen.

The rest of it just sucked. All the actors save David stunk, the lines, action blew, ship designs, hyperspace opening with no explanation, hyperspace its self seem'd like a slip streem from voyager, not space. Fast paced and 1 way...really dumb. The story, everything. Pilot or not, when I saw it, as a B5 fan even, I wasn't pleased and wanted to puke.

Then I remembered Thirdspace and smiled.

Anyhow, I know its been like a year, but meh.....yuck to LotR. So many other gripes.

As for the music, it probably was not written by Franke, but Chen (was that his name?).

Turdspace is charming in a third rate Star Trek plot kind of way. The Vorlon bits are nice. Lyta's bits are nice too.

Turdspace is boring -- It is the most boring of the B5Movies, even the Well of Souls is better. What comes to B5:LotR -- Yes the weapons systems suck.

I LOVED someone's quip about the kung-fu weapons and a DDR pad as the flight control setup for LotR.

"A new thing" it may be, but damn stupid, IMO. I agree fully, I really thought that was bad.

Thirdspace wasn't bad... but it wasn't actually good either. It was too predictable.

Yet I haven't seen LoTR yet but I believe that it would've been worth a new series even if their Kung-Fu weapon systems looked dumb. I'm sure they would have invented some new stuff in it and I really don't care anything about weapon systems. Give me a exciting and good plot and I'm in love.

Thirdspace had that great scene with Lita and Zack in the lift. One of the best scenes in all of B5. Shame it was on such a lame movie. Well, at least it was better than River of Souls!

And the idea of a Nihilist race is pretty silly IMO. At least Sherry Belifante's (sp?) character didn't sleep with Franklin, which it seemed would happen at one point.

Also, I find it hard to beleive that a battle of that size would fail to be mentioned the entire 4th and 5th season.

Oh well, they can't all be B5:ItB.

Good points. The battle was huge, with various species affected on the station, and the freakin Minbari brought in to help. The battle its self was good, minus the music IMO.

I've only seen now the following movies:

A Call to Arms

In the Beginning

Thirdspace

Legend of the Rangers

In that order too. See, I saw the series 5 times over but never saw the movies! Then I cought ACtA and later (1.5 years) rented ItB.

Thirdspace was better than ItB I think, just because it was original. And Legends just SUCKED. More gripes for a laugh (I missed the slaughtering of it when it came out...its my turn! Hehe)

Its a haunted ship....wooooo that was dumb. And the only one who can see the "ghosts" is a Minbari who gets hurt and cant explain it.

The gang of friends helping David and egging on the Minbari in the sparring room...stupid! They act like such children, and the characters just blew IMO. Their acting, their character depth, their written personas, EVERYTHING.

The secret op's guy!? With a hologram immager to look and sound like others....seems a little high tech.

The stupid Drazi that I thought was going to be a main character had lines like "Me lift big things" and "Zug Zug". Wait, thats Warcraft III.....bah he was the same as a peon. STUPID.

Everything, the alien ships looking like garbage, having no real back story but a "fleet" of them coming closer...tiny ship with jumpgate abilities, and it was 20 years old at that!

THE UNIFORMS!!!!!! Black vest with yellow sweater underneath...disgusting.

ANYHOW, A Call to Arms was alright, Sheridan a la crazy old Picard. No Delenn though. Thirdspace was cool, but yeah its just cause I havent seen Babylon5 in AGES and it was new to me.

Is A River of souls new? Like, season 4 or 5 new? Or what...I saw Zack with new uniform (the black from S3 and up) I think, so it might be.....

Cheers
