Planetkiller

Did you guys ever get the Vorlon Planetkiller to work? I know that you guys said that it was too big for FreeSpace 2 to handle, but can you do it now now that you have the source code? Also, can the planets still explode, cuz that looked awesome.

Well I think they tested one -- but it didn't work well. And to planets to explode you need a model of a planet. And if I remember right -- Vorlon Planetkiller will only be for the background.

I understood that it will only be in the backround, but it will be a real model.

I think the reason it didn't work very well at the time had more to do with the converters available then as opposed to a model problem.

We'll get around to it sooner or later.

I could have sworn that the Planetkiller was a model, because they had problems trying tio import into FS2. If it was just a background, they wouldn't have problems.

Erh... I think it was a model -- but when it was too close game would crash or sumthing. So they placed it far far away just so you could see it far away blowing up a planet or a McDonalds -- who knows.

looking through the old screens, I believe this amply illustrates the model and the problems with it.

This pic dates back to before I joined TBP, so I can't say too much about it.
