Question About the ships.tbl for The Babylon Project.

Sorry to ask but do the Babylon Project ships all fit into it because it has a limited space?

Just wondering because if they do then great, if they don't then you would always have to be changing around the tbl files to play new missions (could the source code be edited to change the maximum size of the ships.tbl?).

Thanks all.

Oh and while I'm here just thought I'd post a couple of pictures of a ship I am making. Not for Freespace 2 but it is babylon 5 and I guess this is a sort of general forum.

EA Maori Strike Cruiser:

What y'all think?

and another little EA ship I made for Klingon Academy:

Cheers HA

I like those ships of yours. The only bit I don't like on the Maori is the chequered bit at the front. It seems to exaggerate the boxiness of the front end and the textures don't end nicely at the edges (i.e. they don't end in "squares"). Other than that I really like the design.

Yes the ships.tbl limit can be lifted with no difficulty at all with a couple of modifications to the source code. This is good news and allows all of the ships to be included in the one table with room for extra variants such as Black Omega Starfuries too.

We shouldn't have any trouble in reaching ships or weapons tbl limits, and if we do, Avenger or someone else who is familiar with the source code can extend their sizes.

About your ships:

My honest opinion is that the first ship's front section is not that good, otherwise it will do.

Second ship's beam are coming from weird place... Those "mounts" are not weapons at all, instead they are sensor pods or something, I am not sure but weapons they are not for sure.

Thumbs up

Woo thats a good job there, Hidden Agenda, ship design is arguable but whats inportant in this post is that you reveal good potential in texturing, Have you considered to join the team?
It sure would be a precious help, we could use all good texturers we can get, we got lots of models to texture, believe me I'm a texturer myself.

Now I respectfully ask my team m8's not to dissmiss nor flame anyone trying to join the team as a texturer, it has happened a few times before and I'm seriously convinced that has kept us back. With 2 or 3 more texturers we could speed up every release a lot since texturing is the speed bottleneck we have (perhaps Campaign scripting too but thats no too bad I think)

Agreed, the more modellers the better!

Also, campaign scripting does not seem to hold up the releases really as the main campaigns and the actual "releases" are currently separate entities.

Sorry to disapoint ya but I ain't good at texturing - those textures were all made from a base texture made by another guy who makes babylon 5 mods for Klingon Academy.

I'm sure lots of people would like to Join this mod team but only the best can really and textures are not my best area I have to say.

If you would like to speak to the guy who made the textures that I modified and see if he can help you at all he is at ka.com under the name Minbari_Captain and there is another guy there called Whitestar.

http://geocities.com/minbari_captain

http://www.geocities.com/wsmods/Main.html

and this is how I first had the Nova because I had not really seen the ship much before:

Minbari_Captain told me the beams were firing from the wrong place and that they were in the two bits below that so I assumed those bits were what he meant.
