In short POF Constructor Suite is the GOD Utility for POF Files. The First beta release will have the editing capabilities fully programmed in, but the conversion tools will be being written [hence the beta releases version will be something like 0.25.0 Beta]. The conversion capabilities will be to and from both COB and 3DS with new extended hierarchy rules - ill try to make the basic rules as close to the old ones as possible so current models work [this shouldn't be a problem]. New extended hierarchy includes gun and missile points, engine glows, perhaps paths, and a few other things.

So you should be feeling slightly enlightened now. The new tool should be extremely useful to modelers in the near future. Check out
