Unhappy Goodbye

Goodbye. I have little if any reason anymore to post on this board. My computer crashed on startup several times. when I did get it started I deleted FS2 and restarted the computer. It fixed the problem. I will have no further use until I get my own computer again and install the game on it.

To those of you thinking, "Thank God he finaly left.", go to hell.

Goodbye for now. Mabey forever.

Yeah, it's FS2 simply can't make a computer crash at startup.

Sad, just as he was beginning to learn how to behave...

Woo great.

Right, anyways, there isn't really any reason why FS is affecting Windows ME. There is as good a chance of FS affecting your operating system start up and operation (while its not runing of course) as there is a chance of a little green gremlin running around inside your computer pulling out wires.

Again, to reiterate, Windows ME is probably the worst operating system put out by Microsoft since the likes of Windows 95 (original, OSR2 wasn't as bad).

Windows XP is going to cost you more than $50.

I had that once. Edwin, if you think you might have this problem, I recommend submerging your entire computer in bleach. Thick bleach is recommended.. if you're using thin bleach you may have to leave it longer. If you feel uncomfortable using bleach, try vodka, nail varnish remover, or lemonade.

ME was worse than 95.. 95 wasn't a release of practically the same OS that many people had, persuading people to buy practically the same OS as the one they already have.

Still, it's an impossibility that FS2 is going to destroy Windows Me. Sorry, not happening. Something else did...perhaps you tried to reinstall an old version of DirectX off the FS2 CDs and it (although it shouldn't) messed up? Try downloading DX8 or 8.1 and seeing if that helps.

It is IMPOSSIBLE IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD for FreeSpace 2 to be causing the problem

its likely that Windows ME screws itself up when interacting with certain programs... This OS is not just the crapiest one, its also the weirdest one... sometimes it works others do not, I thing bill gates got I'm-a-god symdrome...and his preferred sentence is..."windoes ME works in mystirious ways..." and the second preferred one is "windows ME spells twisted in wright straigh lines!!"

The ****ed up OS is indefinatly the problem. it's just that my mom won't LET me install a new OS because that would mean rebuilding the computer AGAIN.

Does anyone know if FS2 is MAC compatible? I know the other Descent games are.

No it doesn't work on MAC. Does your mom get offended if I say that she's being a bit too strict? "Rebuilding" the computer takes about 3-4 hours maximum.

Some people on staff here at Volition Watch reformat their computer every three weeks or so it seems (several times too many per 6 months).

I format about every year. Its been a few months since my last format and the problems are starting to creep back in again. A few crashes, hangs, and otherwise annoying bugs that show up.

Lets face it, the Win9x architecture was flawed from the start and its just been perpetutated through the years. XP sounds like its definately the way to go. You can run your computer for longer than 48 hours on idle without crashing (yes thats how bad Win9x is).
