A Difficult Decision

Today I have started to work on phasing microsoft out of my life.

This means no more FreeSpace 2 after a while

I _may_ keep a windblows system around to play it though... just depends... im prolly leaning tword that... but i do need to get out of M$ dependancy

so what exactly does this mean in regards to your work here? Hope it won't impact it too much, it'd be terrible for the whole community to see you leave.

you could also get a SUN box. But then you wouldn't be able to do anything except highly advanced engineering.

Consider IRIX. It's got a spline based interface! Very stable too.

You can always set up a dual (or duel) boot. A 5 GB partition should hold WinX, FS2, and whatever TBP stuff you need.

you just got lucky. XP has so many bugs that you'd be better off with 3.1 or even just DOS.

Actually W95 and W98 has much more bugs than WinXP.
Haven't heard much any real problems. mostly software and driver issues or just a dumb user.

BTW, has XP fixed the bug that happens when installing new hardware. I mean the one that tries to look for driver files from E:\WIN9X, when it should be E:\WIN98. I think that bug has been there since the first version of win95, and it was also in win98.

I even had a bet with my friend that Microsoft doesn't fix this bug in XP, have they?

Stupid fact (1) - It takes 48 hours (I tihnk - ages, anyway) to compile the source code for XP on 40 machines

Stupid fac(2) - Microsfot didn't make the first windows O/s - they leased it from another company, and sold it on to other compaines.

OPk, proper stuff now.

Kazan, it would be a shame if you left, especially as I like annoying you with Blender (muwuahah!). Hopefully you can find some sort of compromise, as it would be a great shame to lose your skills to the community.

but, if you're that unhappy with MS, then fair enuff. Do what you gotta do.
