Whee! AMAZING Demo guys....Few questions...

Just wanna say what an amazing demo you guys have made, can't wait for the rest now, but I ain't gonna complain like other people. If I got everything I wanted all in one day eg. TBP full, Fellowship of the Ring movie, Legond of the Rangers, My B5 DVD etc etc... then I'd have nothing to look forward to, so I ain't complainin' 'ere guv'

Anyways, I have a few questions:-

 • I have downloaded everything bar the animations. Now before I get my 56k modem to melt, could you tell me what they animate and what they do. Animations is a bit too broard an area for me I'd like to know what exactly they are before I download...
 • In the final release will the Battle of the Line be "way bigger". Sure, it's intense and absolutely terrific but if you watch ITB there's about 100 times (Literally) the amount of ships you have. Maybe it isn't possible to have that amount of ships in FS2 but maybe you could have a background with loads of ships in?
 • What can we expect to see in the final release in terms of ships, flyable ships, storyline, no. of missions etc...?
 • When can we expect the release? I'm not the kinda person, as I said before, that wants everything NOW NOW NOW, I want it when it's finished but any idea (roughly) when that will be?
 • After you've finished the EA vs. Minbari war what next?

Thanks for your help, in advance, and once again fab demo!

I want this info, not just for myself, but as some of you may know I'm management over at The Gaming Union and I also write there too. I am going to be writing a review of this demo for next month, so I need some of this info

Anywayz thanks guys.

I think all bar your first question have been thoroughly discussed already. TBP team will not make mission specific backdrops, they prefer to have more general ones that can be used in a variety of missions. Neither will they add lots of ships that reduce framerates and add little to the gameplay.

Check IceFire's .plan to see their current plans of what to release and the planned release order.

TBP understandably will give absolutely no dates (rough or firm) as targets or even expected dates of release. If they did this then they would be held responsible if (and when) they did not meet them and it would also unnecessarily hype the tension. A rough guess at when the rest of the EA stuff and new missions (i.e. Release 2) will be released is 6-8 months but that figure may not even be in the ball park

I can answer a few questions. The FAQ does cover some of this ground, but not all.

In the way of ships. Well....we hope to have everything you saw on the show....plus some extras from the Babylon 5 Wars turn based game from Agents of Gaming and a few good non-canon sources.

That will probably mean something like 70-80 ships. Thats going to take a while, but we've got a significant chunk in the works already.

The biggest and the focus of the campaign development group is a huge set of missions around the Earth Civil War in Season 3 and 4. There will be mini-campaigns with each release to show off the new ships. There will also be larger projects here and there to cover what we want to cover. And some historical battles no doubt.

There will not be a "Final" release per say. There will be several different releases (check my Plan file). The second release which is next is more EA and Minbari stuff. Basically finishing off all of the canon (official Show Ships) ships for those two sides. Then we'll be moving towards Narn and Centauri, then Non-Aligned Races and so on. Eventually we'll do Legend of the Rangers ships and Non-Canon (AoG and others) ships and First Ones and whatever else we can get ahold off.

There really isn't a set final product, but it will evolve and grow.

We're not giving dates, not really even potential dates. We did that in the past, and it does not work out too well. People complain and send e-mail and hate mail and all kinds of things when we don't hit the target date. So, we won't give dates. We'll give the date on the date that we release something.

Thats basically how it works. If we don't think its finished, we'll spend another week or another month or another two months on it till its pretty close to perfected. This is why the comment "this mod is not just good, this mod is excellent" is beign said. You wouldn't be saying it if we released this time last year. It was a mess back then. Now its not
