Drakh Fighter

I've posted a copy of my Drakh Fighter in my folder on the FTP. It's a personal project based on a high res mesh. I know Kazan was working on a Drakh Fighter based on Simon Richardson's mesh. This is not supposed to replace his! I'm not claiming mine is better! Kazan's talents are obvious. I'm not asking for my mesh to be used. I merely uploaded it because I thought you might be interested.

And yes... before you start lacing into me Cpt White claiming "It uses lots of different objects! it's only got one LOD! Do you know how to mod FS2?". It's WIP. It's in seperate bits because it's easier to texture in Lith that way. Once the texturing is finalised I'll stick it together and stabilise the joins. Not rocket science.

Dont worry IP most ships here have only one LOD anyway.
Its always nice to compare 2 different versions of the same ship, that way both modelers can combine the best of the 2 and creat a better one

Kazan was working on a Drakh Raider? I know he experimented with the Vorlon PK and the Nova UV...but I don't remember the Drakh Raider

Another question. Do we still have access to that low poly Drakh Cruiser/Carrier?

Quoting your model status page:

I'd be interested in seeing these low poly Drakh models you speak of. I'm beginning to like the Drakh ships. More than the Vorlon ships. I want to get the Ulysses 31 reject Drakh Raider running with LODs in FS2 because I love the ship. I certainly want to do the Drakh shuttle in the future though. Another corker.

Someone needs to have a look at my Minbari rocket too. I think it's neat. Of course I could be way off.

Nial. NOT nail. A working beam would be nice... If we're not allowed to pilot that ship it's rather easy to do. Otherwise not .

How big? Those fighters the excalibur wasted in Call to Arms were certainly not 200+m in length. That's nuts. That's the size of a small cruiser! Are you sure they haven't just pulled the same stunt they did with the Vorlon Transport and Vorlon Cruiser. ie: used the same model with 2 different sizes?

If that particular model is cruiser sized I'll need to retexture it. It's done using a single 256x256 map. That's not enough resolution for a small-medium sized model.

Is that a screen cap from a series or a render of another model BTW?

Addendum: Did some research. Looked at various sites on the web. Got vary different size info ranging from small to 100m to the famouns (and completely OTT) 286m. So I don't know what to believe. Since I'm primarily making this ship for me, I'm going to keep the ship small. 30m. Same size as a Vorlon fighter.

yes i was playing with conversion and lod additions to Simon Richardson's models for the drakh a while ago, and people were all up in arms because i wanted to use base-models from another project [and had permission from the other modeler]

and BTW: Bobboau rule doesn't apply to PCS

in otherwords model at your leasure it DOESNT have to be one object

The Drakh fighter weapons was pretty much a relativly faint beam with bright bolts moving along the center of it.
Maybe this could be recreated with Beams? Or maybe even my dodgy fighter beams I made a while back...

I believe that the Drakh Raider is about 100 meters long, two of them is more than a match for one Whitestar I believe.

The Drakhs are using Raider Gunships as their primary offensive ship, other ships like cruiser and mothership are more like carriers, the cruiser is designed to carry load of Raiders.

I believe you can tell certain colours to not be affected by shadow values in the ships tbl entry, i believe the drakh ships are one whcih would benefit greatly from this. you could make the light blue areas actually appear lit.
