You forgot somethimg........
To the B5 team:
Are there plans to include or design a techno-mage(Galens ship) ship?If you do what kind of weapons would you include(since I'm pretty sure we never saw it fire on the show)?
Also-Do you think you can fully recreate the main gun firing sequence on the excaliber?I would think that size and strength wouldn't be a problem but the startup would.
Look forward to the first release of the mod.
P.S.If you have the ability to upgrade to a cable modem I highly recomend it.I down load song off Napster(well Napigator)in like 10-60 seconds.

I've got Cable and about 10 Christopher Franke CD's...no worries a'tall.
Unless we get source, the main guns won't look quite like on the show.

Have you ever seen the FS2big gun(4 shipyards put together that fires a huge beam). It works like the excalibur's guns(smaller beams meeting to form a large beam).

Have you tried mys suggestion at the previous board? Mjolnir beam is direction-locked, so if you place the turret to face the ship's tip it could create an illusion of those powerup beams. The main beam is much easier, just create a huge turret to the tip of that ship.
I have not been able to test my theory since I don't have any useful model for that .

I've tried FS2Big gun. I actually suggested something like that at the old boards, but it seemed no-one paid any attention to me...

The problem with that system is that the station used multiple objects to fire the beams around. So the beams were targeted at different objects to fire. The Excalibur is a moving destroyer, not a stationary collection of models. So no this doesn't work.
I'm pretty sure that the fixed fire beams have to fire straight out from the ship. Which is why the Mjollnirs are setup like they are (model wise).

A small cube would block the beams, just as long as it (or whatever model it's connected too) is invincible. To be honest, seeing the big powerup of the beams doesn't matter a whole lot to me. The function would still be the same in the end, wouldn't it?

Of course, it just looks a lot better that way.
If you make the charge-beam's damage 0, it won't even destroy the cube
I'm still not confident this will work.

Yeah...I want to play with the particles a bit. That and perhaps the glow. Its not perfect but there will be a substantial effect.
The TechnoMage ship will have a TechnoMage gun that I've been dreaming up. Its more of a easter egg ship anyways and the gun is going to create more havoc than actual damage (EMP, Leech, Subsystem, etc). Its the technomage sort of way isn't it.

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a havoc gun in the valid tbl files?
I would like nothing better than to go on PXO with 2 havoc lasers, and all banks full of EMP adv.s

I stopped playing multiplayer when:
*I got tired of SquabbleWar
*brow beating newbies with better piloting became boring
*the same old missions got very boring [and new missions wouldn't get logged stats]

A small cube or something docked with the nose? No, the beam would probably go through that... or would it?
I'll have to test that sometime... as soon as I learn nocking ports

The block in the tip approach would work. Just a docking point inside the tip of the victory model.
Dock some small (small enough not to show through it) invulnerable object there. Use fire-beam sexp to fire charge streams at it, then time another fire-beam for the main beam.
Charge streams should probably cause damage (lots), otherwise it would look funny if something (read: player) would fly in an block it (0 damage can be blocked by anything). They cant destroy the target object if its invulnerable and no weapon can hit the ship that fired it.
One last thing to remeber is of course to make the target object vulnerable and selfdestruct it if the victory is destroyed.

I don't know what he's talking about.
I have made several big guns and know of several more. My biggest gun is the LRBBlue cannon for the GTD Golgotha (BWO). Its huge as beam cannons go.
Shrikes Plasma Cannon is pretty damn big. So is the Heavy Pulse Cannon I've made for this MOD.
