Damn! Think just think if FS2 was rated MA or whatever. They wouldn't have any problems with FS2 because in order for the game to be slated for younger kids than the age listed on the box, the game would have to be advertised! Maybe this is Interplay's genious marketing plan.. or maybe not.

Anyways, if any laws ever go in effect where kiddies can't buy the higher rated games, I'll just have mommy and daddy buy the games for me and I'll pay em back!

BTW.. if what I just wrote has nothing to do with WildWolf's news post, it's because I didn't read the majority of the post because WildWolf's posts are boring and lame! H4w!

Volition: FTC Report

Posted by WildWolf:

Not entirely Volition related, but certainly gaming related. And seeing how this is a website dedicated to games, its on-topic enough.

The FTC released its report on Marketing Violent Entertainment to Children. In it they say

Games: Of the 118 electronic games with a Mature rating for violence, the Commission selected for its study, 83, or 70 percent, targeted children under 17. The marketing plans for 60 of these, or 51 percent, expressly included children under 17 in the target audience. Documents for the remaining 23 games showed plans to advertise in magazines or on television shows with a majority or substantial under-17 audience.

Also they recommended the industries maintain some self-control and not market to children under 17 years of age.

Al Gore and his running mate Joseph Lieberman released a statement saying something like they'll give the industries 6 months to comply, then they'll start doing some stuff to combat some other stuff... something.. I dunno. It all sounded like crap when I was reading it...

Got that off of Stomped.
