Hud configs
Hey, just curious as to how other people set their HUDs up to see if i can make mine even better. i am currently using a color coded one so that i can quickly pick out the sections that involve the subject that i am looking for, you know, bright red for damage, med blues for cannons, bright blue for weapons stores bright yellow for comms, off white for the crosshairs, bright green for targeting, dim green for target orders, med green for the scope, etc, etc, etc.
i was just wondering if there was anybody out there with a better system, or if i am just wasting space on a server?

I custommize my HUD depending on what situation I'm in. For example, if I'm in the nebula, I'll probably use darker colors since the nebula is bright. If I'm going to be engaging a lot of ships, I'll set as many gauges to "Popup" and most of the rest to "off", so I can see more, etc. etc.

Except hostiles, which are red

I understand what you mean about those nebula missions. with my current config i notice no real problems mainly because along with the "l" button witch darkens your hud settings by quite abit, all of the really important hud controls are set pretty brit inorder to make the stand out from all the clutter, though i don't use that pop up feature for very much. mainly targeting stuff and the damage stuff. i also use 1024 by786. it works very well with my hardware.

Ah yes. I love customizing my hud, for some reason. I'm more obssessed in finding a better HUD than actually playing in missions.
I use an aqua hud. It's kind reminiscent of the aqua coloring in System Shock 2's interface. I wanna post a picture of it, but I don't know how to take snaps in FS2. Someone wanna tell me how?

the print screen button in most modern games actually takes a snapshot of the game screen and then saves it as a picture file instead of either copying it to the clipboard or actually printing it since both of those tasks would take system resources away from the game program for at least a couple of seconds. in my current hud config i am using aqua for the wingman box and the escort box, though i think i am going to swith them over to green to group them in with the targeting boxes since i am using a similar shade of aqua for energy manegment, though most of those boxes are set rather dim.

that's a good one, it will definatly work well in both a nebula and in deep space. i think i will experiment with make my crosshairs that color. as i said, i have color coded every thing by color. red for damage, green for targeting, blure for power, sky blue for weapons. bright yellow for comms. there is also white for miscellanious items such as the kill counter and the directives box.

Ummm, try aqua and amber. Jpeg's do tend to change quality after compressed, you know.

i migh try amber for some of my toggles in the lower right, unfortunatly i dont think they will work for my crosshairs because of the lighter colored nebulas. but teal on the other hand, that ought to work pretty well in ether environment it it is set a little on the bright side.
