Anything new similair to freespace coming out anytime soon? Not a game where its on a planet, but in space. I love those kinda games but i've look all over and it seems that this type of genre is dead.

Try [URL=http://mapgames.7.com1.ru/homeplanet/index_eng.html]Homeplanet[/URL]. A Russian company is making it, looks a lot like Freespace. It uses full newtonian physics though.

i checked the demo on that a while ago, i really didn't like it much, and its so horrible that they won't support multiplayer!
isn't that anything else? I think homeworld is the closest i can get to space combat
Oh and yes i've also tried freelancer. Was a great game but the mulitplayer REALLY REALLY sucks since its ALL about getting cash. Player combat there is as rare as hell.

eh i checked it out, and i have to say that this game is by FAR less detailed then freespace, I haven't personally checked it out, but a demo with 33mb and screenshots of such basic models, it doesn't look too promising at all. Damn i wish they would make a freespace 3. I'd be game of the year and more.

have any of you read the forum on their site, god they love freespace. And they've got their own B5 mod going on. the warlock lots so so sweet

I dunno about you guys, but I thought Freelancer was good for a while. Its short but sweet. Plus its got replayability... oor sumthing.

i have the game, its not like freespace at all. First off, you dont have missions per say. You have JOBS, which is like go and kill these people and blablabla, just about no story involved. You always have the same character whos stats are based on the ship you BUY, so that means if your in the mood to be maneuverable good luck cuz u need to buy a need ship. Also you can't kill capital ships in the mulitplayer, or stations or anything a little bigger then you. You always have a reputation which means you either good or bad and rarely neutral. So if u want to be good one day and bad another, its kinda hard and time consuming. So thats basically it, oh and mulitplayer PVP is basically non-existant. Hopefully the modding community will make it something better.

Still nothing comes close to freespace

Maybe you should take a look at http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/babylon/

It's a Babylon5 Mod for Freespace2. It's not finished yet, but there have been 2 very good releases so far and same good fan made campaigns too.
