atleast when we cheat we do it the old fashioned way, but having a vote-script, not only is that dishonest, thats just lazy

OK here is my letter to the Interplay webmaster, cause I really dont think we should lose due the Descenters having some ote-script.

Hi there. This is about the poll on your main page, the one asking which game (and in turn, which franchise) you prefer. First of all, let me say how great it is to see Interplay asking the fans what they want. However, I think that a situation (cheating) has arisen that you should look in to. Since yesterday I have watched the Freespace franchise (FS1+FS2) drop from 58% to 41% as of the time I'm emailing you. Sometimes as much as 10% in a single hour, or worse.

Now to be honest, you can expect both sides (Descent fans and Freespace fans) to vote multiple time, but I think you are already aware of that. With this dramatic drop in the last 12 hours, it would seem that the Descent fans have brought in some sort of auto-voting script.

I dont know how else you could explain the massive amount of votes required to tip the scales and see a decrease of 17% in so short a time. This may be just a rumour, but I hear you closed the original poll (the one with 4 licenses including Fallout and Descent) due to the Fallout community using some sort of vote-script.

Well if you check your IP logs I think you will find that Descent has gotten a ridiculous amount of vote, I mean honestly, 10% in a single hour..

This should not turn into "who got the best hacker". Rather it should be an accurate representation of the fan's opinions. Please take some action to stop the obvious cheating, and reset the poll back to its state before the introduction of this voting-script, because this totally ruins the poll and the information you get will be a very inaccurate.

Good idea. We may be dedicated enough to click for two hours straight, but at least we don't cheat.

Those numbers are just nuts, though! When I went to bed last night, FS2 was at 49% and D3 at 38%. Now it's 8 AM and it's 54-36. No way that many people could vote in so short a time.

And lay off the Descent bashing, guys; they're ALL great games. It's just that FS2 needs FS3 more than D3.
Besides, they had their chance (D4=RF....)

OK guys. It's obvious they're using a script; if Interplay finds out, they're gone. What we need to do now is maintain our integrity. No scripts. They're screwing themselves over, and nullifying the votes of all the honest Descent players, which is a pity.

We must hang on until the guys in charge find out. Stay the path.

Merely voting and refreshing would not increase their votes from 38% to 60% in a matter of hours, not with all the votes that have already been put in by all of us. I voted and refreshed for two hours yesterday whilst watching TRON on DVD, and Ten did too. I saw a 2% increase over those 2 hours. Now I come back after the past hour and find they've gone up over 15%. That is not possible with all the votes already tallied unless they're running a script.

How many posts do they have vs. ours? What does that say about the activeness of the community? Hell, that thread dates back to the original Descent vs. Fallout poll!
