I hope the hlp forums don`t lose any of there data when they do come back up, but that hasen`t been a problem in the past so it will probably be alright..

meh, like I said on the rift, I'm betting we'll come back to a smoldering crater with half deleted forums and all but the first 18 members deleted, throwing every hosted project into choas. Shirke well say it wasn't his fault, Thunder will get high and say his alter-ego is evil and tried to destroy the forums and Stryke will post up is plans for a fully functioning rail gun, upon which the FBI will shut down the boards and site for good.

Didn't read through this whole thread, but just so you know: We have contacted the Gamespy people when the problem started, and they informed us that it is a problem with corrupted files in our database and they're looking into it. There is nothing we can do to speed things up or fix it ourselves, so we'll have to wait for Gamespy's response.

90% of the people surfing the boards the last few days are HLP regulars, such as aldo, Galactic Emperor, Knight Templar, myself, Stunaep, Ten of Twelve, and many many others!
Also, when HLP does go up, the worst we'll lose are posts. The dynamic4 server (which is what's giving problems) has nothing to do with the hosted sites section, as they are fully functional at the moment, and will continue to be.
Styxx: when was the last time Shrike or Sandwich or someone else made a backup of the forum?

if you are responding to my talk about hosted sites, i'm referring to projects such as DatDB, of which have a good half of the entire campaign so far within the Private Forum..
*twiddles thumbs*

If that's the case, I hope you guys backed it up, because I wouldn't be suprised if the DB has to be rebuilt.
vbulletin.com has a DB repair script you might want to try.

yeah, that was what i was thinking too, but I'm sure even though the database is corrupt, they'll be able to salvage most if not all of it. ... hopefully

yay, this is my first post here.
So this is where everyone has been for the last few days. Is this under Gamespy's control or can one of the admins do something to rectify it? (from the discussion here it looks like the admins cannot do anything, but the news posting on HLP says otherwise) I sent an email about it to Shrike a few days ago but only now realized why he has not responded; it probably got swamped with all the automatic emails from the forum server. How often are the backups usually made?
On a side note, it looks like Freespace 2 is losing on that Interplay poll.

This was not a fair contest. They should reset the poll when HLP comes back up, and then we'll show them.
