Y'know, actually I take that back. After taking a look at the code, its better than I remembered. There's still room for improvement, but its smarter than I remembered.

Its still on the simple side though. Be cool to see a more sophisticated lighting model.

WE ARE THE LIGHTING SUBROUTINES. YOU WILL LOWER YOUR COMPILERS AND SURRENDER YOUR GEFORCE CARDS. WE WILL ADD YOUR HARDWARE ACCELERATION AND MEMORY OPTIMIZATION CODE TO OUR OWN. YOUR COMPUTER WILL ADAPT TO RUN US. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE

Thumbs up In our darkest hour...

The FS2 source comes to shine a light on the community.

Now, does anyone know of a free compiler that is compatable with these MsDev 6.0 files? My attempts at using 4.2 to compile just POFView have so far been unsuccessfull and I don't think my Borland compilers (BC++ 4.0 & BCB1) would work either. Visual C++ 4.2 Std always fails with some odd error or another when it comes to linking.

I've got to say that I agree with ZylonBane on this one. The first thing we should do is correct all the bugs in freespace. It shouldn`t take very long to fix them all.

While the programmers are doing that the community can decide what else we want to do.

By all means talk about what you want to do to the game but those little fixes could be done quite quickly

Don't force stuff upon the programmers.... if you make people do things they're not really interested in, then they'll do a sloppier job.

Bug fixes will, of course, be necessary, but there are other things people want to do as well.

I've no doubt Kazan et al. can do some really fancy sh1t with FS2, so maybe we should make sure they feel free to do it.... i'll just be tagging along trying to learn more C and provide something useful.
