Yeah I get same, when I press commit it reports from a Illeagal Operation and throws me back to desktop. And I'm using latest tables you have released Bobboau.

he is using the v1 release. if you have any 1.1 items it will crash like that. you must check the error, check the corresponding table slot, check the corresponding file in your Data folder, and change the file name to the one in your table.

I thought he said he was using the most current version? That would be 1.1 right?

I'm still not understanding why there would be a crash. Stuff only works when tables reference them. Mind you, the Olympus picked up some missile launchers and whatnot...

Actualy I reported that wrong. It crashes when I hit continue after the Command Briefing.

quote:
what was the last few lines of the debug spew

Frame 0 too long!!: frametime = 64.628 (64.628)
Got event GS_EVENT_WEAPON_SELECT_HELP in state GS_STATE_TRAINING_PAUSED
ANI 2_BriefMap with size 400x400 (21.9% wasted)
ANI iconwing01 with size 28x28 (12.5% wasted)
chatbox_closed
couldn't load animation auroraicon01, this is a ship icon of some type, I have a funny feeling this might crash soon
Direct3D activate: 0
Direct3D activate: 0
Direct3D activate: 0

At the very begining of the spew it says that the ships and weapons tables are invalid

I also get a "break into debugger" error for the Kestral shuttle

ok it can't find the ship selection icon,
you're (aparently) useing ver 1.0
go here and click on release-1_patch, and get the patch (that's a direct link to it, but I figured I'd mention were I'm getting it from)

the thing about the ships and weapons tables being invalid is a measure taken by V to stop cheating in multiplayer, it's of little relevence now

the thing about the Kestral is a warning given becase it can't find all the LODs, (I'm assuming this is the waring becase I get it too), it seems that there is something screwed up about this model (or posably it's table), but not too bad as to cause a crash, becase it didn't seem to cause any major problems, and becase fixing it might require decompileing altering and recompileing the model (not that hard but, lets just say theres a realy good reason I'm not going to do that), I'm just ignoring it (clicking no)

also there are three types of things you'll get
warings- these tell you of a potential problem, but don't require you to quit
errors- something is realy messed up and it can't go on anymore
assertion failures- these give you a snip of code that has been proven wrong when it shouldn't, ever, and they force you to quit

you can tell wich of these based on the first line of text in the window

also you will get crashes but hopefully you wont

the first two will give a mesage that should be (but isn't always) helpfull for the people adding material to the game
the thrid is generaly fairly abstract and only gives information relevent to the programer
a crash will leave only what is in the debug log

not trying to be an ass or anything but if we use the same terms it will be a lot easier to hunt down these bugs

Thing is though, when I use the 1.1 tables I get a whole slew of debugger messages. When I use your tables it crashes after the Command Briefing.

are you still getting "couldn't load animation auroraicon01, this is a ship icon of some type, I have a funny feeling this might crash soon" just before it crashes in the debug log
is auroraicon01 in the interface directory?
that file is in 1.1 but not 1.0

Yeah I still get that. No it's not in the interface directory, but if it matters I looked in both 1.0 and 1.1 table entries for the Aurora and saw no reference to that file at all. But then again, I don't know what the icon is supposed to be...shield icon, hud, ship loadout....no clue what so ever.

What I want to know is, does this .exe work for anybody? Am I the only one still having problems or what?
