Did you remember to change the exe in the 4.x launcher (NOT the normal freespace launcher) to fs2_open?

well, its set to that automaticly

this is what it set itself to: C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_r.exe

it works when i don't have to flag things on, otherwise it crashes.

I hate to tell you this, but if you downloaded the fs2_open exe in the link I posted, it's called "01_20_2004_fs2_open_r.exe"

I the 2004_1_20 builds, the spec and glow are on by default, so you don't need launcher flags to activate them.

Just use -htl -jpgtga -pcx32 (possibly) and perhaps the -fps flag. That should enough.

Only realy new test builds require the -spec and -glow flags to engage those features.

Later!

the thing with the comand line flags is just a huge mess right now, over the last month I think we've introduced and obsoleted three sets of comand line flags. and stuff that's been on by defalt is sudenly off without comandlines ect...
I was opposed to this stuff BTW, and I was opposed to us useinf the registry too, oh well

Well, as long as it gets sorted out before 3.6 is released, it'll be all okay

i have a feeling registry entries would be easier to use than command line parms.

then again we did confuse the hell out of the community when we changed everything around. why can't we do it again?

config file would be very nice indeed.

cmdline.cfg in the Data directory

It shouldn't be difficult to use a config file for Windows. The *nix osregistry should work under Windows without problems. You just have to set the filename to write to. It's going to save the file in the root of the CFILE tree, as an example: C:\Games\Freespace2\fs2_open.ini (~/.fs2_open/fs2_open.ini on the *nix builds). The only thing that people need to be sure of is that any osregistry calls are made after CFILE has been inited.

Well, you're the ones ho petitioned for an internal in the first place. There could be alot of coders lurking in the HLP boards, and oyu shun them all out by locking yourselves away in a private page.

confused as hell

One of the main reasons I've stayed away from FS2open is that I don't understand it. Is there a way you guys can release a build that a non coder can use without modification. Ie (FSopen for dummies?) click and run?

Just a question but "what the heck IS a command line anyway?" I asked this last year but didn't see a response...
