I don`t think I actually need the files themselves (I have the retail version of FS2) But I need the info on them for my FAQ Why you need them etc? Which version of the exe's you are offering to send me.

There seems to be a bit of confusion here. The standard voice files (affirmative, enemy shot etc.) are available in HOTU. THe mission specific are not.

The 1.0 HOTU allows you to play campaigns. 1.2 is a simple patch.

Upgrading to 1.2 does NOT allow 1024x768. The HOTU version removes the file required for 1024x768.

You need the original EXEs in order to patch the game:

1. Obtain the UNCRACKED FreeSpace2.exe and FS2.exe.
2. Run "Update".
3. Now goto gamecopyworld.com and install the no-cd patch for 1.2.

jBaron - your music solution is useful. Thanks!

Now that I've answered a few questions, here are a few of my own:

What am I missing in the command briefing animations?
Is it possible for someone to set up a site made especially to download these missing files? Maybe we could contact The Underdog (HER)self about this. I'm sure she would consider hosting these files.

And a few other things:
Karajorma, these files are NOT available on Kazaa and probably never will be.

I would kill for a transcript to the monologues :-d. I always wondered why the plot was so confusing, and then I hear you guys talking about how the monologues advanced the story :-d.

Thanks for the post n4s7yn4pk1n. I can only make the HotU section of my FAQ as good as the info I can get from the people who are using the download as there is little point in me downloading and installing a 200MB file I don`t need.

I`ll put up the changes to my FAQ as soon as possible based on the info here.

About installing the no CD patch, you can also get around requests for the CD by using FS2_open (but that would lose you the 3 cutscenes included).

I`m not certain of this but I believe that FS2 : Colossus would also contain many of the missing files.
For those of you scratching your heads FS2 : Colussus was an OEM version of FS2 that was shipped with Logitech Force 3D joysticks.
Since it includes 10 missions from Freespace 2 it probably includes a lot more of the music, CB anims and voice files than the demo does. Of course the drawback of buying FS : Colossus is that it costs £50 (even though you do get a free force feedback joystick thrown in )

The files are available on Kazaa (I know cause I`m sharing them ) but there are only a few other people who have set them up for sharing so they'll be hard to find. Now if a few more in the community would do the same we could help our new brothers and sisters get full copies of FS2

The monologues cover Bosch's explainations for his actions and his true feelings about the NTF. There were transcripts around IIRC but I can`t remember where. I`ll have a look.

The CB anims in general don`t advance the story as much. Most of them are mearly pretty window dressing for the Command Briefings (in much the same way as the graphics at the bottom of the mission briefs only serve to make the briefings more understandable). There is little in the briefs that you can`t understand simply by reading the text.
That said they do look fantastic

I`ve checked out FS2 colossus and it does have many of the files needed including the Hi-res files. If you know someone who has a copy you should definately get it off them.

250 MB, uncompressed. I think that's about as much as the rest of the HOTU files combined...

lol yea I live Sweden , thanx for the offer but I dont need the files myself, I got the full version. I'm was asking where to get the soundfiles coz ppl at my hardware forum (non-swedes ) need 'em for the hotu download.

btw, like karajorma I also share the soundfiles (stu_fs2.vp) and the high res files (sparky_hi_fs2.vp) on Kazaa (light) but unfortunetly I cant leave my comp on 24/7 (problem with graphic card )

Hmm. youre not downloading from me though (my kazaa name is Void). Try finding more resources (but maybe I'm out of your reach searchwise).

the sigdat code of my file is:

File:sparky_hi_fs2.vp
Length:265242014 Bytes,259025KB
UUHash:=RSmeO5c/u4tiOvDipbak1X6WLHY=

(I'm a newbie on kazaa and sigdat codes so I looked in this thread:
