Noooo.... Terrans meet Vasudans. Tensions mount until a diplomatic faux pas turns into hostility. War rages for fourteen years, coming to a stalemate; Shivans suddenly appear and start killing everyone. Ts and Vs unite to turn back the Shivans, but not after Vasuda gets glassed and Sol is sealed off.
On a side note, the GTD Goliath was killed by kamikaze Anubis fighters during the 14 year war.

Ok, then it wasn’t the Goliath (which ship was it that was destroyed by the Typhon?), but whichever ship that was destroyed was not destroyed by the Vasudans. The diplomatic problems had been there for some time before the destruction of the Terran destroyer. One of the Senators (who had a bad view towards the Vasudans in the first place) blamed it on rouge Vasudan squads.

PVF Anubis- The Anubis is the weakest fighter in the Vasudan Navy. However, they are extremely cheap to manufacture, and are often used in swarm situations to try to overwhelm the opponent with numbers. A few radical Vasudans have been known to load the ship with explosives and attempt to steer themselves into GTA capital ships. The first occurrence of this was the battle of Rexias 4, where the GTD Goliath was destroyed by a squadron of kamikaze pilots. Due to its lack of afterburners and low weapon capacity, the GTA has classified the Anubis as a class D threat.

As far as I know, the T-V war ws started because of a Terran snafu at Vasudan negotiations. The relations between Vasudans and Terrans were already tense. Then some poor diplomat breached protocol by mistake (Vasudan mannerisms are very strict and complicated) during an important meeting and that help trigger the war.

Also, Terrans didn't use Vasudan ship design. You can tell simply by looking at them; they're totally different design philosophies.
You may have mistaken this:
quote:
PVS Scarab- The Vasudan support ship designated the Scarab serves the same purpose as our Centaur: to repair and rearm fighters and bombers in the heat of battle. We believe the Vasudans stole the docking technology from the GTA. Like the Centaur, the Scarab has a large explosion radius. The only real difference between the ships is that the Scarab is unmanned.

or this:
quote:
VC3- The standard Vasudan cargo container is only slightly different from our own. The primary difference is that the Vasudan cargo containers are atmospheric as well as deep-space. Vasudans used cargo containers well before we did, as they needed to transport raw materials from other systems to their own barren world. Our cargo container was modelled after theirs, although ours is slightly superior in durability.

Right, DESIGN wasnt a factor, it was the technology. Terran and Vasudan technology was flimsy at best in the beginning, but they worked together to improve their ships. The Terrans and Vasudans shared technology information, not designs.

Did I say designs before?

::Studies timeline for the Terran-Vasudan War Project::
The TVWar was started in 2321 because of something to do with the conversation and Vasudan rebels. There were three cease fires(I think it was three) during the war. One was for elections, one for a holiday (Terran Holiday season fell on the same month as the Vasudan's) and one for the evacuation of the Talnia system before the nodes collapsed. The GTD Goliath was destroyed by Kamikaze Vasudan pilots, but I think it was a GTD Reliant, not an Orion.

The Terrans didn't take any technology from the Vasudans, but the Vasudans took afterburners from us.

I think to Orion being destroyed your thinking of is the GTD Eisenhower. It, along with the most of the 4th fleet were destroyed by the PVD Typhon and its support craft in Vega. This was the first deployment of the Typhon, and the first the Terrans had ever seen of it. But the Vasudans grew overconfident and the Terrans were sucessful in drving it back to Vasuda, and nearly destroyed it.

So, that should answer most of your questions about the Start of the TVWar. Shivans did arrive before 2335 though. They destroyed a full fleet (around 3 Orions, six or seven GTD Reliants, and a bunch of Frigates and destroyers) during a subspace jump. But that was the last time they appeared (As of yet) until 2335. Even if they unfluenced the TVWar, they didn't start it.
