FS2 doesn't seem to be the only program doing funny things...
Especially when it comes to files and folders:

Location:\Stuff\Packs

Don't forget the Space...

well from the look of those errors it looks like you have something wrong with you're ships table
look for
---EARTH ALLIANCE CAPITAL SHIPS-
and make sure it has a colin or two in front of it

that doesn't explain this one about ships.cpp

Assert: hull_percentage_of_hits > 0.0f

KERNEL32.DLL bff7b896()
KERNEL32.DLL bff7a24f()
H 1d7d8010()
------------------------------------------------------------------

however I put a colon in front of the lines that were giving me a problem. However it begs the question why wasn't it done for release one?

could it have something to do with the freespace2 patch that was released long ago?
I also re-installed(just the game) everything including freespace2 and applied the patch.

We already knew about that one. Beam weapons don't count towards kills - it's the reason you have SJ Sathanas kills even though the Colossus did the majority of the damage with its beam cannon, you did the most non-beam damage with your Helios torpedoes. Therefore since the game doesn't calculate beam damage for recording kills, the game thinks you did ALL the damage, and you get credit for the kill.

I am working on that, you may notis that all fighter beams (other than ones from the player ship ) now record there parent as haveing mad the kill (F4 events I think is were you'll find this)

also that asertion failure in ships.cpp is a mod bug, I've had it on clean (ie didn't change anything) builds running many mods,
looks into it... seems the total amount of subsystem hull percentage (were you put in the numbers for subsystem sterength) should not be more than 100

Can anyone tell me why this is such a problem to resolve in the first place? I don't know how to write/read code that well and would have thought that it shouldn't be too hard to implement (I know that it is though as there wouldn't have been all of this delay otherwise).
