The latest release is 3.5.5 which isn't that great.

What we mean by latest release are the special test builds being released in the SCP Build Forum.

Specifically, you should use the buld that Taylor put up.

And I thought -d3dmipmap was buggy? It's not really worth using imo since there's no terrain and you don't often spend your time flying along the Colossus anyways.

And you definitely have bad luck with the SCP so far.
I have a P3 1.33GHz, 256MB ram, GF4 ti4200 and I can run the game with 2xFSAA at 1024x768x32 without the framerate dropping below 25 ever except for the "stutters" that still occurs when a new texture is loaded when something new jumps in (this is a known bug that they're trying to squash).

studdering should be fixed by tylor's build, unless he's got something weird going on, wich is a posability.

The stutters are "better" but still present.

However, I'm beginning to suspect it might be my low ram starting to hold me back a bit (although I find it a strange coincidence that every time it occurs, my texture memory drops a bit, indicating a texture load).

If you do a search for mve2avi in the HLP, you should be able to find the thread that had the link for the converter.

If Interplay hadn't decided to release the "special edition" of FS2 you'd have been able to download them from Fractux's FTP.

Tell you what, I'll upload them to my Swooh account and you can slowly download them one by one. You'll even get my "slightly better" versions too.

mve2avi is illegal, there will be no public links to it. PM people.

also, could you do me one major favour and actually take some time, grab a drink, sit back and read through the wiki pages i posted? Don't just read untill you find what you need, or glance over it quickly, but pretend your spellchecking it or something. It'll help you later.

I just read the 3.6 readme, i surely hope you ain't gonna use the newtonian physics........i hated the B5 game because of that, i don't wanna hate this game too.

If all comes to worse, i will just not use the SCP......

ONE MORE ****ING TIME:

ALL THE FEATURES WILL BE DISABLEABLE, AND EVERYTHING THAT CHANGES THE FS2 FEELING AND OR GAMEPLAY WILL BE OFF BY DEFAULT

and newtonian physics, we wish.

No to newtonian physics....BWO is all about retaining the core fundamentals of what makes FreeSpace 2 so rediculously fun: fast action, massive space battles, more ships than you can shake a stick at, and giant capital ships. We deliver these...sometimes perhaps in quantities that are a little over the top but still vast quantities of fun.

Hopefully few or no BWO mission will prove to be frusterating and if you are a veteran of FS2 combat then you'll have no problem.

Also not to worry, shortly before release we will have a beta test amongst a few selected people to get a better feel for everything.

The entire spirit of the SCP is that unless you turn it on, the game looks and feels exactly like the original Freespace2. So don't fret it.

And JamieK? Check your PM box.
