Could we please go back to being mature individuals now? I don't know about some of you but frankly, I don't think this place was meant to be the battlefield between Decent fans and Freespace fans. Granted, I'm a hardcore freespacer with Kayser plasma flowing through my veins, but that doesn't mean I have a bloodoath against Decent either.
So can we please go back to being a reasonable community instead of a bunch of fanatical lunatics?

Guys, the only difference between voting mulitple times and using an autovoter lies in the intelegence of the person voting; had Bobboau or Ten o' or whoever else gotten their autovoters to work, half of the people here would be using them by now. The Decent people were only smart enough to get theirs to work; its time yall got over it.

I've read virtually every single thread on the subject in existance, and I haven't seen a single Descenter go "I'm using an auto-voter and now D3 is winning, I rule! Woohoo!"
So, lets see your quotes on this. I'll make it easy on you and give you a bunch of thread links up front:

That should be more then enough to get you started. And since I just went through the two major Descent community threads and saw nothing that comes even close to what you're saying (plenty of "I click/refresh/click/refresh/click" but no auto-voters), I'm quite interested in what you have.

This is my personal opinion on the subject:
IP is a dying company. It's not going to make a game, which will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce, based on a web poll. Also, why would they list FS and the original Descent on the list if they were making a sequel? At most, they might re-release the game that wins. I doubt they'd do anything more.

I've called for the dismissal of this topic to the entire FS and D community. But since there are those from both sides that continue to raise this issue, I shall then go to my fullest extent to defend the Best Space Sim of the Year game (3 years) to the best of my ability.
quote: So, lets see your quotes on this.
You asked for it. The below does not prove which game is "better", only supports the facts that the D community used "other" forms of voting other than the conventional point-click (including scripts, multiple votings, suggestions of voting to outside respective community, etc.).
You may draw conclusions to the following quotes as you wish.
quote: ccb056
we can really hurt the freespace dudes, everyone disable cookies and vote d3, yay
d@mn you all that voted for Freespace, i will make sure you all rot in h3ll
um myself and another perosn voted for descent for an hour straight today between 3pm cst and 4pm cst, we cast about 1500 votes and managed to raise descent's % by 1, so if my math is right, approx 150k votes have been cast with a margin of error at 1500
quote: Akuma
Dissallow cookies from interplay.com and just keep hitting refresh and vote!
quote: BlackFalcom
I'm voting for D3 as much as I possible can
quote: Nitrofox125
I've only voted multiple times because I keep having to to see the results.

ns33, the entire FS community has been voting multiple times for FS/FS2, and encouraging others to do the same. In that regard, you're just as guilty as the Descent community, so get off it. Besides, you should have read Rake's entire post. He wants quotes to back accusations of using a script to stuff the ballot, and having read all of those threads myself, I can firmly say that you won't find any.
quote: ...including scripts...
Not a single quote there supports that claim, nor will you find one.
quote: ...multiple votings...
Again, the FreeSpace community is just as guilty.
quote: ...suggestions of voting to outside respective community...
Point? It's called rallying support. There are people beyond Planet Descent and the Descent BB interested in seeing a continuation of Descent, even if it's just to have another shooter on the market.
