If you can't download it from there I could probably upload it somewhere for you. I haven't checked the filesize but it's probably too big to e-mail. I'm on ADSL so I can upload fairly quickly.

Well, if you plan to upload the voices, we would also be grateful if you uploaded the two exes. BTW, I'll inform the-underdogs of the discussion going on here so they may perhaps include an updated version on their website.
P.S. THank you very much :-d!! haha if you were here I'd hug and kiss you right now.

What's this about needing the .exes? Which versions do you get when you download? (in case you`re wondering why I`m asking I`m adding answers to this sort of question to my FAQ)

After compression the two exe's are only about a meg each so I can e-mail them to anyone who wants them. As for the voices file, I'd need an actual FTP or website to upload them to. My firewall is set up to block FTP requests so I can't serve them myself.
For that matter, exactly what file are the voices stored in? If it's not too big I could try e-mailing it as well.

Voices are stored in stu_fs2.vp which is about 160Mb in size uncompressed so I doubt you`ll be e-mailing it anywhere

Hi all,
What a discovery this was to find this game at HOTU. This certainly isn't your grandfathers typical DOS abandonware.
So what are the advantages to upgrading to 1.2?
Will this allow 1024X768 as opposed to 640X480.
I was trying to figure out why I could run the demo at the higher res, and not this version. is this why?
If so would someone be so kind as to send me the exe's so I can patch it.
I also figured out a partial solution for the lack of in-game music problem. The demo contains 14 out of the 52 music waves that are in the full version. If you copy those to the data/music directory you will at least be able to get some of the music.
I also noticed that the command breifing animations are missing from the HOTU version as well. Am I really missing anything?
Thanks!

I`ve put up a little FAQ page for people like you who are joining us from HotU. (I wasn`t aware of that bit about the demo though so that's definately going in).
You can find it here
The command briefings do add to the overall feel of FS2 but in my opinion don`t advance the story as much as the movie cutscenes (especially Bosch's monologues!)
EDIT : Has anyone checked to see if the demo came with any voice files from FS2?
Even if it comes with the ten most common (new enemy, look behind you etc) I`m sure that would be useful.

I thought this was a thread on where to get FS2... aside from downloading the sourcecode or buying from eBay. I really want this game...

Upgrading the HOTU underdogs (stock v1.0) to 1.2 allows you (hypothetically) to play user created campaigns and mods, although the Bab5 mod doesn't seem to work right- it thinks the CD is missing (it is, but the .exe should be cracked).

karajorma, if you send me an e-mail at amills1@bigpond.net.au I can send you the freespace2 and fs2 exe's.
Hmm, the voices file is about 130 Meg when compressed with Winzip. It probably would be a bit much for an e-mail. Would anyone like to host it?

I don`t think I actually need the files themselves (I have the retail version of FS2) But I need the info on them for my FAQ Why you need them etc? Which version of the exe's you are offering to send me.
