Hmm if captain white could even add the skins for launching doors and all on the station, I'm sure someone could program in functionality to allow the doors to sorta swing open to release the starfurys and all. That would be really cool! Also love to include all the missions of the first season in the game. I just bought the first season dvd and can't wait to get my hands dirty with script and skinning
Hmm fs2 also supports the looks of hyperspace, it would be cool to make it able to have basic gravity functions to pull toward gravity wells like the show to make the game more interesting heh thats a ways into the future

Gravity wells? Too large scale element to fit in a tactical space battle game - the effects would not really be visible the way you probably imagine. They affect ballistics on planetary scale, they don't enable any quick tricks with your fighter...
The "gravitational incline" of hyperspace, on the other hand, is a viable element. A disabled ship is in trouble, it will drift and eventually get lost if it loses it's lock-on to the hyperspace beacon system... how to enable this drifting in the engine? Or could it be worked out as a game element without actual movement, since the hyperspace doesn't behave like normal space anyway? Probably not, so we'd need some way to make a disabled ship drift somehow, when in hyperspace (which reminds me again about the annoyances of non-newtonian physics of fs2... kill the engines and the ship will brake to a halt as if it was in mud...).

You mean like you could sit next to it and watch it go drifting like u know...?
But if you would be watching it drift, wouldn't your own ship drift same as the other one? Thus maintaining their relative positions and making the whole thing useless.
Ofcourse you could code it to affect only disabled ships, but it would not fit the point I made above. And I think that what makes difting dangerous in hyperspace is the diminished sensor and visual range. Not the force that goes "woosh" wiping squadrons of fighters away...
(Thought Galen mentions his ship can't manouver well in the gravity pulls deep deep deep deep in hyperspace...)

Here you go, first in-game screenshots of EA Omega class destroyer.
Pic 1
Pic 2
The mission above is a blank mission, just an Omega sitting there.
Official screenshots will follow later. How soon, depends on a few matters...

Sort of... let me first address what you said:

But the distance to beacons would increase. However, whether or not they would actually be present in any missions is another matter... (in an afterthought, they probably would) Also, one could argue that a stopped ship's drive system would use it's engines, even when set to speed of 0, to stay put, something a disabled ship isn't able to do. That way only the disabled ship would move.

WOW
I've been waiting years for this.......The ugly brick..............with the hypnotic rotating center section.....
yes.......this makes me HAPPY!!!!!!!
One question...........were there more difficulties with the omega than with the nova????? (Aside from the obvious rotating section)
AND- is there any new coding to go along with this ship in particular(or the rest of R2 for that matter?)?
MR FURY.......I AM DROOLING (sorry for the mess......)
