Contrary to Mr. Fury there....the FS2 3.3 Open EXE seems to work 99% perfectly with TBP. Infact, I've been using the Open version for a few weeks now because it doesn't need me to toss in a CD everytime I want to test an incremental upgrade to the GOD's missiles or the Thunderbolts manuverability.

So far, I've run into only a few problems relating to oversized engine glows.

One question about the open (or future TBP-specific) source code changes: will you be able to have ships with different name plates/textures/fighter markings in game and if so will this require editing new textures for the whole ship or would some sort of system be in place so you only have to make a new texture for the changed portion of the texture?

That may be in the future. In the meantime, our ultra efficient table set will allow us to have a few select numbers of specific paint schemes and ships.

There's been plans to do something like that. I don't know exact specifics what they have had planned, but if I remember correctly, you can select unique nameplates for every ship you have in your mission, as long as you have the nameplate textures. FS2 can't create them from thin air you know.

True, but its quite easy to make a name plate for a ship (orion at least) on FS2, but there can be only one at time. But that of course changes the orginal

In magic pixie land, we'd be able to type in the name in FRED2 and have it appear on the ship we want.

I'll have you know I suggested that very same feature months before FS2 came out on the VBB. I even thought it'd be sweet if we could flag a ship as Vasudan and get it to come out in Vasudan script.

Alas, it didn't make the final cut.

OK, obviously such a venture would be possible with source code modifications but would such a change be easy, possible or even likely to be seen???

If we are talking about nameplates and changing them individually, then it is already partially done. The problem is that the nameplates or squadron logos are not lit. Last time I heard, Bobboau is working on that.

This means, we can have unique nameplates and wing art/squadron logos for all ships in one mission.

The problem with current squadron logos is that all friendlies will have same logo, not good for B5.
