Of course we could give a release date like 24.12, but the moment the day turns to 25, there would be everyone yelling: Where are those downloads!?

... you will get your releases before this world of yours dies... that sounded enough melodramatic.

People on this team have a way of heading out for a little while. If you can't have fun while doing this kind of work, you simply can't be doing this kind of work. Basically if it's not something you enjoy anymore, it's no longer a hobby. It's better that people take these breaks to do other things in life, play other games, and pursue different interests and then come back, refreshed and rested, to resume their work. The best creativity comes when you're really into what you're doing rather than when you're doing something just because you have to or because you're told to. Overall, I'd rather not see these people work day after day until they burn out their collective interest.

Well that's my theory anyways.

I agree with that one. Dark Alliance gave a release date for the trailer and demo (March or something) and that never came. It wasn't anybody's fault but it was quite annoying.

I'm starting to really appreciete the mod team after this discussion. If you have chosen a certain path, keep to it. You've managed to convinced me. Way to go.

I'm currently running projects for Operation Flashpoint and I was part of a past project for Rogue Spear.

We try

Now...hopefully all will go well with things and you'll have R2 sooner than later. And R3 shortly after that (we've already gotten a good start on some of the models for that one - just because they were ready).

Okay. GambitN has his own oppinion, so does the TBP team. They are both enititled to their own. The TBP team's just happens to be correct. Sorry, I just had to say that. GambitN, welcome to the Freespace community. This is a nice forum, have you signed up at HLP? 3dap.com/hlp/ that's the other main forum in the community.

Meaningless release dates are just meaningless. If you guys do want to keep people drooling in anticipation just press "PRINT SCREEN" more often while you're testing things.

If you don't have time or are feeling you aren't going to make a theoritical deadline then you should get more people to join the modstaff. I think, that you should have an approximate date for release, like "In 3 months"... If you'll release it early, nobody will be upset. It will make the work more demanding for you, and that's good. Creating an obligation.
