The babylon project breathed life in another comminty that never had a chance due to checks and balances.. Im sure that BWO and other user campaigns and mods can only knit us closer together..
SO GET THE WORD OUT!
We might just have fun doin it..

Yeah! If there wont be FS3, then FS2 should live until we all are in grave... If any game FS2 has deserved that.
And to look in these forum a lot ppl still plays FS2, and even more of those who doesn't hang on these forums, so long live FS2 and may not she ever die.

Does FS3 have a market? Definitely. As a base we have the entire FS2 community, and as Icefire said, everyone who shows up seems to have the same comment: "this is a great game, never heard about it before." We know that there has not been anything comparable to Freespace on the PC, and the Star Wars games have done well on consoles. If FS3 reaches the existing scifi and space sim market, that should be good enough to warrant a release.
What's more is that there is already an entire community that has been developing for this game for years. Volition's community is closely tied with Volition itself (well, except for the Rf guys, but that's the FPS market for you) so they can always count on us for feedback and support. As modelers, FREDders, table editors and now source code editors, there is a fanbase large enough to help yet closely knit to provide togetherness. I know of very few other fanbases with the support for their parent company and product like the Freespace community.
Let's wait and see what happens. This is a game. Interplay has been losing lately--the next move is for companies to start bidding for its assets.

My hope is that our longevity as a community and as a MOD community will give some people in the right places the right impression.
Two incredibly strong community websites. Three or four forums with plenty of members. Thats nothing to sneeze at. So...seeing as Interplay is a somewhat non-entity right now and that Volition and THQ are doing quite well, it seems to me that if the possiblity arose, THQ would buy the rights to FreeSpace and have Volition develop it.
Space sims has been quiet for quite some time and as with every other genre, there will be a rebirth of some sort. This happened to RPG's, Adventure games, and to Flight Combat games.
I have hope.

I just hope that FS3 take into account our efforts. over the past few years there have been countless mods and campaigns however the big one such as the babylon proj, derelict and now BWO should not fade into the dust after FS3 is completed. my hope is that, whoever get the developement 4 FS3 have the forsight to incorporate the MODs and the storylines of some of the additions. If FS2 took over from where FS1 left off and our efforts took over from where FS2 left off, then logic dictates that FS3 shoul recindle our ideas.

Even now there is not a Space Sim game that surpases FS2.
And believe me I've looked at the majority of them.
We can all live in hope that THQ and Volition are able to capitalise on the situation with Interplay.
But until they do, it is up to the Freespace community to keep things going forward.
I know this may sound contrived from a gamer who wouldn't have the faintist idea how to create a MOD or texture a ship.
But there are people in this FS community who do, just look at what has been done so far.
The campaigns, the missions and the number of MODs.
BWO nearly with us and the Babylon Project past its first revision.
I gain much enjoyment from playing with the fruits of other peoples hard work.
So, may I say a big Thank You on behalf of all us pleps, to those who can continue taking FreeSpace into the future.

And if FS3 ever hits the shelves I'll see you in the queue.

Don`t forget over two years passed since the release of the game and the community is still strong... it is something impressive. And don`t forget there are probably not so many players interested in space sims than those interested in cRPG like BG or some strategy..
