quote: PS2 FS? Are you friggen NUTS? That would suck bigtime...... you wouldn't be able to run 90% of the controls.
Not PS2 FS2, PS2Linux FS2. Sony's going to release a kit for the PS2 with a 40Gig HD, Ethernet adapter, USB keyboard + mouse, and a Linux dist modified from a Korandra dist itself modified from Red Hat. It's a nice toy for anyone who's wanted to program on a console, though the kit does limit what you can do with some of the hardware. If we get a Linux port of the FS2 engine that uses SDL and Open GL I will try and compile it on my kit. (Along with lots of other things.)

Other suggestion.....
allow multiple loading screens - 1 for normal, 1 for Vasudan, 1 for SOC, etc
Another thing would be allowing a cockpit model, like in IWar or Tachyon
just wish I knew more than the basics of C to actually try and work on this.... oh, well, might as well fish out me ole' textbook and find that copy of Borland

Not properly - as in point and shoot like with lasers. Only synthesized with turrets or modified targeting lasers.
Oh, there should definately be some way to alter capital ship AI so it can choose between broadsiding (Terran / Vasudan) or attacking from the front (Shivans, esp. Sathanas). Not sure how possible it is, unless you use special ahardcoded values in the ai.tbl to dictate it(?) - 101-199?

It's still heresy. What's the point of running a PC game on a PS2, when you have a perfectly good PC?

Huh - very good point. But I wouldn't make it global (Terran, Vasudan, Shivan). Make it selectable for each ship in the .TBL entry. Otherwise, what would BWO do - poor Golgotha would try and broadside.

Change the ship sides. It's silly to just have 4 sides.
Instead have 8 or 9 different colours and allow each side to be programmed in FRED as to who are the enemy
e.g
Blue ships will fight green. They'll ignore Red even if they start shooting at them and they'll ignore purple until they start shooting at them.
Allow ships to fire on their own side if they are given explicit orders to do so.

A nice feature, possibly a pain to implement, would be to let you assign squad insignias on a per-ship basis.
Ship name decals. No more generic GTD Orion, etc on the capships when you want a name.

Better done with a special shipname texture name, rather than a decal.
