Well they must have been weak ( as I may notice, they probably had strong army to fight on the planets, but no strong fleet. ), even expanded, if they have been destroyed in that way.
They had no technology - you cannot read about the Shivan loses. Probably, the Ancients truly gave up.
It is interesting how fast the Shivans spread.
Probably not too fast, simply invading one system after another, with no true resistence they didn`t havew to use all their power or make blitz raids.
