Please tell me I get to be Minbari in that mission. Otherwise all my nightmares are going to have that thing in them.

I like it
But I wonder, does it rotate like the Orion? It seems like it should, so it could best bring its weapons to bear, but I'm not sure that you can put a turret on a rotating subsystem (oh, wait, you did that on the Orion, didn't you? )
BTW, in the mission loading screen, are there turrets on the rotating piece on the Omega?

jc, turrets on the orion are on the non-moving central piece
so this thing cant rotate, doesnt mean it cant "align" though - possibly ?

I'm not sure it should rotate.. having weapons all over it would mean it wouldn't have to.. and it's a minbari station, so rotation is unnecessary..
the weapon on the top could be some kinda massive minbari beam or something, which it would have to align to use..
I don't know much about that though.. I take it that's what the beamsabres in FS2 do..?

Minbari and gravitic drives and artificial gravity are like humans and grey hull plating
Theres no reason for this station not to be able to have its own artificial gravity.

Err, I mean, it seems like it should have some slow rotation not for gravity but for rotating the turrets through a complete firing arc.
Or can you have turrets on a rotating subsystem? <- That's what I want to know.

Don't think this thing would have too much of a problem with firing arcs.. most turrets have about 180 degree arcs anyway..
those ones at either side can fire any direction apart from backwards (dah).. though some turrets FOVs need a bit of work
It would be nice if it could reposition itself to let fly with the top cannon, assuming the top cannon is a massive cannon of some kind.
quote: Please tell me I get to be Minbari in that mission. Otherwise all my nightmares are going to have that thing in them.
Not sure, though I did put together a simple Minbari war era mission for this - set early in the war, the EA are overconfident that they can conquer.. blah..
basically, like the Minbari warships, this thing has no problem taking pre-beam EA cap ships down before they can get into range.. but..
if they're set to start closer then the EA stands more of a chance.. nevertheless about half the attacking fleet of 8 warships in my mission was destroyed.
Mission designers could make the capships target the platforms weapons and tip the balance.. though I'd better mention the anti-fighter defences on this thing are particularly lethal.. something Icefire can tweak later.
