Considering Kazan IS the project at present, I'd have to say any opinion about him can reflect on the project at hand. HOWEVER....
Zeronet, Kazan IS approaching this one a bit differently. He's said he needs windows work, he's coding in openGL which is cross-platform, and he'll do Linux codework; the Windows guys will handle Windows. Assuming he's going to at least try and follow up on what he's said, I actually think this'll work a lot better than UA ever did.
So count me in the "very skeptical, but if I see something playable, pleasantly surprised" category myself.

Im not trying to flame anyone really. I just have some misgivings about it lasting thats all, if he is indeed having someone else help him to the windows work, then i have hope my misgivings will prove unwarrented.

Kazan leading it for one thing. His daveb topic cracked me up and proved alot of things.
Zeronet, those 2 comments made me think somehow that you are resentful of him...my...total apologies if you meant nothing by them...

i doubt that project will ever have a finalisation..hell it wont have a start even...
don't sale me a crossplatform bull****...I am a software engineer for 5 years now..lots of programming experience both Windows and Linux...an Kazan programming a game engine..hmmm..even PCS is kind of half finished..
Games in linux is a mith ..not to many availeble..not a big need for them.. a server for a game in linuxx tthat is easy part..it does not do much..just make alist of active connection an pass info to every active client..easy
better they use a free game engine...and after my expirience about 2 years an something in TBP...only the ship designe will be a hell...add to that ..sound routines, graphic routines, AI routines, controler routines..tha is not a job for amateurs..is for pros...I mean at least 8 h a day of focused work...with neither of us have
...trust me ..all my models where done by cutting my sleep down to 6 h...mostlly between 12 Pm and 2 AM..after a day of long ,exhausting work(programming in Romania is hell)

You guys are so sweet
I'm thinking it's a toss up between something like Nebula, Crystal Space or Torque (right now, in my mind, those are teh choices, not necessarily in that order).
Can only look and see, if nothing else the people involved learn something about game engines.

Thanks Bobboau...I'll be sure to add this and every other project to my list....except that the VWBB code will probably prevent me from making my sig any bigger
True enough Inquisitor. Something will be gained...regardless of anything else.

If you don't mind, I'm just gonna move this over to the FreeSpace forum since we have one now.

Works for me
Dynamo and/or Remora, would love to chat with either of you.
My experience with sparky has been limited to nasty words in a post a few months ago, and the last day of the VBB.

weren't some people going to do something for FS3? because we've just released the FS2 engine and they might want to use it..
what? there's nobody left? did the CS guru do it? thought so.
oh well...
just a thought, not a sermon.
Quite possible. Like I said, 100% dedication is needed by some people to continue to have the motivation.
