I feel most thankful for my Thrustmaster Fox-2!
I've got 7 buttons, throttle on the joystick, twist rudder, and a hat switch. This thing has saved my butt in many flight sims. It's pretty cool the mean maneuvers you can pull in Independence War with the hat set as your laterals, then various other buttons to cycle contacts/contact types.
It's also fun for the Descent style games, as I can control movement on every plane, and rotation on every axis, as well as select weapons all from my joystick.
I flew with a mouse in Tie Fighter, was actually quite good with it, but I prefer a good stick.
However, joysticks are not perfect, and I cannot believe people would use them for first-person shooters. I understand the limitations when it comes to console FPS games, and I'm actually very dangerous at games like Red Faction, but using a joy for a FPS on PC is madness.
