Ahhh, the exact AoG approach.

Tell me, will the Secundus be armed with four heavy arrays and four twin arrays, or with eight twin arrays?

It's a perfectly valid point that the beam usage is up to the mission creator. This would fit with the they had them but didn't use them debate. Also some of the "Primuses" seen on the show were actually "Secunduses" - I can live with that

[best sales pitch voice]
Now you too can have battle lasers and not use them!

ok, Tomcat, you're gonna set it up with the beam weapons.

What I care about is whether you guys (TBP) will USE the Centauri Primus's beams in YOUR TBP missions. I hope not. Keep them there for flexibility, but dont use them in official missions.

I know I have no way of stopping you since you are working on it but beams will make that ship way to powerful and like it's been said we have never seen them use beams....ever on that ship or any other ship for that matter. As long as it is left up to the mission creator to use them I guess it's ok.

Since we control the statistics on the beams and the pulses, how does putting beams on a ship inherently make it more powerful?

I thought you were trying to make the mod as close to B5 as possible. The primus is a beast as it is. I can only imagine it with beams.

Exactly what law says that beams are ALWAYS more powerful than pulses. Ok, minbari beams are more powerful that EA pulses, but what about the Centauri pulses? or Thirdspace alien pulses? Hell even one of the Firstones ships used pulse cannons.

Yep, it doesn't matter that much if the weapon is a pulse or beam.

They can both be very powerful weapon, it just depends on the level of technology. The Centauri weapon tech is more pulseweapon oriented, but that doesn't mean that the Centauri doesn't have any beams or use them.

If we can trust B5 CGI effects even little in this matter, then Whitestar's organic armor takes more damage from Vorchan's pulse weapons than Omega's main beam.

It just depends on the race. A race like the Minbari have a very good beam technology, they don't use pulses on their standard ships like Sharlin and Nial. (Well, TBP version of Sharlin is equipped with emp pulse though.)

But pulse weapons were used on Whitestars. Pulse and beam weapons have different kind of damage effect, while beam more slices, pulses tears.
When using both types, you can maximise the damage you can cause, depends on target's armour though.

I think its a matter of the pulse cannons blowing apart chunks of the ship while the beams cut through the ship. Even Omega beams can cut through WhiteStars given the chance. Heavy Pulse cannons are probably pretty nasty too.
