well how about 2 turrets - 1 anticapship beam - 1 antifighter beam - and a small primary with no effect - very short range - and no damage? would that not achieve the same effect???

Yes, it might, except that it adds to the file size by adding yet another entry into the table. We've got alot of weapons to cover and im not into making three new weapons per ship. Two is bad enough to achieve the effect.

You wouldn't have to worry about .tbl size issues if you used TABs instead of SPACEs. It makes a very big difference.

We've started from scratch with the table...its all quite nicely formatted thanks to Eternal One. Regardless, its needless waste. The Drakh fighter will work, and will work quite nicely.

Okay, going back to the Drakh Fighter/Raider length, it's been said that they're smaller than the 200-meter White Star. Therefore, I would estimate their length to be between 125-150 meters. Is this a fair guess?

Definately a fair guess. At the last dev chat, IP and I agreed that it would be around that number. He's adjusting the current model to accomodate the size by adding an extra texture map to increase detail.
