i think if earth had afallen into anarchy then they wouldn't pose much of a challenge for the gtva but i suppose it could be a well organsied dictatorship - or returned back to all the nation states all with there own fleets and agendas

I don't think that would be the case. The GTA will still be around. They would find other jump nodes(hopefully) leading out of Sol and expand somewhere else.

If there are no more jump nodes leading of Sol, then perharps they would invent a new kind of space travel that does not require jump nodes.

i dont think your right about about new FTL drives if there were such a thing the shivans would surely have. them warp drive and hyperdrive are best left withing there own sci-fi arenas. as for the other nodes - if not sure there eitheri would have thought th gta would have mapped the whole systems early on when it was first created - although maybe an unstable one stablised

If Sol sent out a sleeper ship a few months after the destruction of the Lucifer towards Alpha Centauri (which is 4.4 light years away) at around 0.2% the speed of light, it would arrive around 38 years later. That would put it right around the time of BWO...

Oops. I don't suppose I could get away with claiming it was a typo, could I?
Or maybe the Einsteinian time dilation...

Ok, ok - just kill me now, KillMeNow...
And don't ask why I first calculated how many miles are in 4.4 light years and worked back from there...

well think of it this way the concept was true 20% of the speed of light should bea attainable at the GTA's level of tech hopefully we will mamage that fairly soon ourselfs. infact scientists are thinking 50% in the not to distant future with solor sailing vessels

Ok, so the question is if anyone can come up with the rest of the storyline. I've almost completed building the mission where this ship from Sol drifts through the Alpha Centauri system, but the problem is that I have no idea where to take it from there. The only thing that comes to mind is that they come from Sol bringing some sort of disastarous/critical "news" about Earth; something that happened before they left Sol, i.e. 35 years earlier, but something that would profoundly change the GTVA's return to Earth... But I really want it to be BWO-compatible. Any ideas?

SOC captures it, and takes hold of the people inside, interrogates them, and eventually kills them.

no...

This ship would have to be either a city on a ship, of a sleeper craft... I like the city in a ship idea... the people in the ship can farm, and buy/sell whatever, and eproduce and live their lives on an artificial world... the sleeper idea is dreary...

I like your first idea... but the ship would be hailed, no? regardless, the terrans would be so prejudice that they'd kill them...

Though I am not sure

I would like to make a campaign like the begining of my jeanenairre mission... but I do not have the patience to create a whole caampaign, and unless it is a really big one, it will never get done, like UA... sorry kazan...

Yes, they are hailed, but there's no response.
Actually, the sleeper ship is an old Leviathan cruiser (the justification for that is that it was sent out only a few months after Sol went SOLo (BAD pun, I know...). The GTVA run a database search and can't find any reports of missing Levithan classes. They finally manage to ID it by reading the data of the inactive IFF module, and by backtracking it's course a few LY's, and realize that it was one of the ships stranded at Sol. They board, find everyone deep-sleeping, and call in a hospital ship to help with the reviving process.
The 2 problems are:
- No action, just a storyline type mission
- I don't know where to go from there

hmmmmmmm nah have them shoot at each other besides a leviathan is not set up to deal with interstellar travel without the nodes - it also needs ot be big enough to pressent a creditable threat to the gtva or at least portions of it - maybe they would get support from some gtva ships too though who like bosch didn't like the vasudans very much

Maybe some new nasty Vasudan-hater is the one that finds the sleeper ship, and convinces them that the Vasudans are the enemy and so forth.

No....

More like the sleeper arrives in the middle of the second shivan infestation. or right at the end of it.

When our ships are about to retreat, they find it lurking near Capella... or somewhere.
