I never actually noticed FS2 until I played a demo of it and by then the game had been off the shelves for some time. A couple of months later I saw it sitting on a friend's shelf, so I borrowed it. As luck would have it, about a month later I saw a copy for sale and instantly bought it.

well I think most of us do stick around here because of some illogical hope that maybe there will be an fs3 or equivalent. If you look around here we're far far from dead. Maybe this is one of those things that cant die, and we're really a part of something special here.

Generally each year for Christmas I pick out some games I like and have them bought for me. As chance would have it Freespace 2 had just been released and was getting good reviews so I decided to ask for it. I managed to beat the game using a mouse and keyboard but it occured to me that a joystick would make things a lot easier for dogfighting. So when I visited a computer games store I decided to buy a Logitech Force Feedback Wingman joystick. Guess what? The original Freespace was bundled with it.

Hmm....
You know...come to think of it, it's not just the space-sim genre that's been on a low end right now...it's the whole idea of space itself that's pretty unpopular right now. A lot of space-based shows are getting cancelled or finishing up without being continued again. The world, in general, doesn't really care much about space anymore. NASA hasn't really been doing any big projects, the ISS is a big waste of money, and with Columbia, the space program isn't going to get any better.
*Sigh* How much longer are we gonna be stuck in Old Terra? At this rate, it looks like another 50-100 years 'till we actually see some serious space exploration!
