maybe he meant Cute as in : Mentally keen; clever; shrewd or perhaps he meant in a cute manner; cruelty.

Seriously, I think he meant "Cute" in the American slang definition equating to "Sharp, witty, pithy or effective, descriptive of an action or verbal response".
